Indian Air Force’s video game, chosen to compete in Google’s ‘Best Game-2019 Users Choice’ category

Internet giant Google has selected Indian Air Force’s video game, Indian Air Force: A Cut Above, to compete for ‘Best Game-2019’ in the ‘Users Choice Game’ category.

The game ‘Indian Air Force: A Cut Above’ was launched on 31 July by the then Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa. In a bid to make the youth aware about the IAF and encourage them to join the forces, the Indian Air Force had launched the multiplayer version of its interactive mobile game which lets users experience the thrill of flying a combat aircraft.

The Indian Air Force took to Twitter to urge its fans to vote for the game. The voting line is currently underway, and it will go on for the next six days. In the users choice category the IAF is competing against Call of Duty: Mobile, Angry Birds Dream Blast, RAID, Stick Cricket and more.

The game features a character sporting a gunslinger moustache similar to that of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was captured and later released by Pakistan after his vintage MiG-21 Bison aircraft was shot down in an aerial dogfight which broke out in the aftermath of Balakot airstrike in February this year.

If you are thinking this is the first videogame by IAF then you are wrong earlier in 2014, the IAF had launched a game called Guardian of the skies The new IAF game is the sequel of sorts of the 2014 game with improved graphics and technology. The game, available for Android and iOS, is a combat simulator which lets the players choose from an array of fighter aircraft, including Tejas, Rafale Mirage-2000, Su-30 among others.

Google Stadia kicks off with 22 games and aims to roll 450 games by 2020 and beyond

There is a moment in every gamer’s life when they experience something unforgettable.  Whether it’s the time they first beat the final boss in their favorite game, were mesmerized by the unfolding story in a brand-new franchise, or watched an up-and-coming YouTube streamer entertain them with a game they’ve never even heard of… those moments are magical.  With that idea, Google has finally launched its flagship cloud gaming project Google Stadia Founder’s Edition.

“We’re now on the cusp of a similarly memorable moment. Starting today, playing games on your TV in 4K without a console, streaming games to a Chrome browser on a simple laptop, or enjoying the biggest games ever made on your phone is a reality. It seems impossible until you experience it. Stadia Founder’s Edition starts arriving today, making the world’s best games available to players everywhere without a dedicated console or expensive PC,” says the official blogpost.

Alphabet Inc’s Google on Tuesday launched Stadia, a cloud-based service that allows users to stream games including Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and NBA 2K20 on Chrome web browser. The service will start with a slate of 22 games and stream 4K videos at 60 frames per second, which can also be accessed through Google’s Chromecast and Pixel devices. Google is offering the 4K version as part of its premium service, Stadia Pro, priced at $9.99 per month. The free high-definition version is expected to roll out next year.
“Stadia will continue to add features and updates in the coming weeks and months, as well as more games. Twenty-six titles are coming this year, with many, many more in development all around the world. Buddy Passes will begin shipping early in December, and Stadia Premiere Edition is available to order now at official stadia site,” says the official blogpost.

Stadia will need at least 10Mbps internet speed for the base 720p resolution and 35Mbps to stream games in 4K. Early reviews of Stadia have complained of latency, the time delay between pressing a button and getting the reaction on screen. Google have over 450 games in development right now which aims to be roll out in 2020 and beyond, Google vice president and general manager Phil Harrison told to Reuters eartlier.

How software providers perform with animation in online casino games

One of the most impressive and the most rewarding jobs out there is the animation development that is used for online slots. There are countless lost out there and each one is original and unique. Let’s see how and why this happens.

Most games are still 2D but this will be changed any time soon
As you may know already, many of the slots available online are in 2D. There are a lot of new slots developed in the same technology as well. However, this is changing as we speak. The newer slots are all 3D. Reasons, why this happens, is simple. 3D looks so much better and offers better gambling experience. Those slots look more modern and more sophisticated as well.

All software providers have a team of personnel working on each slot. Few employees will develop 2D animations, others will develop 3D animations if needed and others will make general animations and poses of a game. The last segment of the process, developing general animations and poses is probably the most important part of the job and has the main impact on the slot itself.

Introduction animations are usually outsourced
The animations you see when the slot is loading are usually not developed by the software provider. Those animations are made by casinos themselves or by other companies that are working with the online casino in question. Another advantage of this fact is that slots are faster developed and they are able to be made more specific and with more details.

Keep in mind that some software providers are able to provide their own introduction animations. However, this increases the overall cost and the time needed for a slot to be completed. This is especially common with the biggest game developers such as NetEnt, microgaming and others. In most cases the same animations that tell you about the developer are used. They are added or implemented into a new slot and the development time is decreased. Those animations are changed and upgraded over time in order to make the slot look so much better and more sophisticated.

Slot designer picks the theme, design and therefore animations
When we take a look at the slot developments we can see that each and every slot is designed by a slot designer. This is a person who develops the theme, plans the animations, payables, bonuses and so much more. Think of him as a game developer who is working on a PC game. He must consider all the facts and all the features of a game. This is generally true but not always. In some cases, the developers will work closely with a designer. This matter is definitely worthy of discussing in detail.

When a slot designer creates the theme and the main concept of a game, he then starts planning the details about the slot with developers. In some situations the slot is pre-planned by the designer himself. Then developers simply create suitable animations and the slot is alive.  But, if a designer doesn’t create a detailed plan, developers have the freedom to create any animation they want and to customise the slot precisely as they like. This happens rarely and in most situations both the designer and developers will work together to create a slot.

The average time needed for the provider to create a slot varies and can be between a few days (the time is needed for basic animations and simpler 2D slots) up to one month. In one month, developers will be able to create a complete slot with all the animations and all the details a game must contain. We are referring to 2D slots. 3D slots take more time and they generally need two to three weeks of longer development to be completed.

Not all the slots manage to become successful and popular. Some slots are developed but they do not meet the license regulations. As such they are discarded. Of course, providers will be able to use the coding and animations or other parts of the slot for other games. The next main thing we can reveal here is the fact each provider has well-known slots, at least a few of them that are popular and common in the highest number of online casinos. Other providers are planning on developing a slot with these advantages.

The final word
Slots are the best and the most popular type of online casino games in the world. They are generally developed in 2D but this is changing as we speak. You can play online slots for real money – at HEX recommended sites to see it yourself. New slots are developed in 3D and they come with impressive features, advanced capabilities and so much more. Those animations will impress you and now you know the details about the entire process and how those animations are made.

Disney+ to launch in India through Hotstar in end May 2020

Disney+ will be arriving in India in May 2020, post the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament, which is scheduled to end on 12 May. According to a new report on TechCrunch on two sources “familiar with the company’s plan”, Disney+ will be available through Hotstar itself.

There will be no separate app for Disney+ as the whole catalogue will be available on the app. This news comes after the historic merger of Disney and 20th Twenty Fox which owned the Star group.

Hotstar is the biggest streaming player in the Indian video streaming market, with over 300 million subscribers. So, it only makes sense for Disney to integrate its streaming catalogue within it. This clearly can be a strategy to take on Netflix, Amazon and Hulu, and moreover after Netflix India’s FY 19 revenue jumped to 700 per cent due to regional reach through its content.

Hotstar offers an extensive and exclusive range of cricket and Indian Premier League coverage. As a result, the streaming service made a record when 25 million concurrent viewers streamed the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup 2019, earlier this year.

That’s how vital cricket is for Hotstar, but according to analytics, the service saw a monthly decline in subscribers to the count of 60 million after the IPL tournament which in a way triggers a Disney Plus revamp to Hotstar.

As per a couple of anonymous sources in the report by TechCrunch, Hotstar plans to increase the subscription fees of its service in India, probably towards the end of Q1 2020 before IPL begins.

Hotstar’s library consists of exclusive cricket coverage, Hotstar Specials, Indian movies, international films & TV shows, Indian broadcast channels and titles from 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Showtime, HBO and ABC studios.

Few reports also suggest that after the launch of Disney+ in India, Hotstar could launch in Southeast Asian countries, starting with Indonesia and Malaysia. It’s currently available in the US, Canada, and the UK, apart from India.

Meanwhile, Disney+ got 10 million subscribers within 24 hours of launch, which is remarkable, given that it’s only available in the US, Canada, and the Netherlands currently. The service launched with a vast catalogue of Disney titles, Pixar animated films, Star Wars Saga, and Marvel films.
