Indian Anime Movement brings Japan’s ‘Weathering With You’ to India

Indian Anime Movement – IAM for the first time in quite a while made it workable for India and it’s crowd to have the option to see Japan’s romantic drama Weathering with You, which is a huge hit in Japan earning nearly $100 million. The movie is from Makoto Shinkai, the director of Your Name, which is Japan’s highest-grossing animated movie ever with $235 million.

The petition was created in April 2019 around animated movie picture screening in India. The Indian Anime Movement is an activity led by Team IAM founder Shubham Sharma alongside his team of anime Youtubers and creative makers. Team Indian Anime Movement was formed right after the petition (April 2019) in order to spread the petition to each anime fan in India, the team had no idea the petition will cross over 50,000 signatures. IAM shares the vision where one can watch anime legally in India without getting region blocked.

Remarking on the appeal achievement Sharma and Team IAM co-founder Sarthak Kumar said, “It feels incredible that a movement started by us is fruitful  and now as a result of our unlimited endeavours, we have the romantic animation drama, Weathering With You accessible for Indian group of spectators.  The fundamental purpose behind making the initiative isn’t simply to carry the film to India but bring the whole anime culture to India, legitimately. By the term legitimately, I mean, much the same as Netflix is a website for TV shows and Crunchyroll is a website for anime. The greater part of the anime Crunchyroll is not accessible in our nation and hence the viewers watch it for free on illicit streaming sites, which are then indirectly promoted.”

He further added, “It was a sigh of relief and triumph when Makoto Shinkai saw the campaign effort and answered in a tweet saying, they are talking to the Indian film industry regarding the distribution rights. And recently, it has been revealed that the movie will go on-air in India on 11 October 2019, in its original voice with English subtitles across PVR cinemas through Vkaao. Our vision is to bring animated movies and series throughout the globe to come to India without signing any more petitions. So, instead of signing petitions for each movie or series, we came up with one last petition to bring anime to India. Also, we are extremely thankful to each anime fan from India who signed the petition and made it possible.”

It was only possible when Team IAM did their best to spread awareness, by using the hashtags #indiawantsanime campaign, getting the posters printed and reaching out to a tee shirt printing company, Comic Sense for getting their tees with the hashtag printed and then distributing the them in Delhi to spread awareness.

Kingston Technology takes top spot as DRAM module supplier

Kingston Technology Company a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, announced it has been ranked the top DRAM module supplier in the world, according to the latest rankings by DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce. Kingston retains its number one position with an estimated 72.17 per cent market share, according to TrendForce. Their findings reinforce Kingston’s position in the marketplace as the leading third-party supplier of DRAM modules. The rankings for 2018 mark the 16th consecutive year that TrendForce has placed Kingston in the top spot.

TrendForce states that spot prices stayed high in 1H18, even surpassing contract prices by over 20 per cent. Despite rising inventory levels and price decreases in 2H18, the report indicates module manufacturers were still able to generate plenty of revenue and profit. Some of the prominent trends and growth drivers the market is witnessing include the growing popularity of online media streaming, recent technological developments in IoT, and the shift to data centre and Cloud computing services.

“While Kingston considers TrendForce’s estimates overly generous, it nonetheless follows the trajectory of the company’s growth in all of its business segments. In 2018, we were able to produce over 14 trillion MBs of memory across all product lines including DRAM, SSDs and embedded solutions. This massive amount, tremendous good fortune, and the findings from TrendForce reinforce our company’s strength, position and importance as a whole in the industry,” said  Kingston , DRAM business manager Mike Mohney.

For more than 30 years, Kingston has created memory products and storage solutions that empower innovation. Today, Kingston ships to 125 countries and employs over 3,500 people around the world. Kingston develops products to increase productivity and overall system performance, with solutions for servers, desktops, and IoT devices. Kingston makes technology solutions that facilitate people’s everyday needs and supports them wherever they are.

‘Little Singham’ seems to be the favourite animated character for kids in Mumbai

Indian animation has been making waves for some time now and so are the animated characters in the kids’ ecosystem. In the past few years, there has been a spurt in the growth of local homegrown IPs who have become quite popular with time. The numbers are rising daily and creating waves in the hearts of young ones.

Amongst noted and well known characters like – Rudra, Shiva, Motu Patlu, Chhota Bheem, Little Singham, Honey Bunny, KickO and Super SpeedO, Inspector Chingum, Andy Pirki, Mighty Little Bheem, Gattu Battu, Guru Bhole, Simple Samosa, Jalebi, Pakdam Pakdai, Golmaal Jr. gang, Gaju Bhai, V4 Viraat, Mighty Raju,  Arjun, Chacha Bhatija, Kris (Roll No. 21), Super Bheem, Bandbudh aur Budbak, Keymon, Ghost Boss, Thakela, Hatela, Kalari Kids gang and Tik Tak Tail, we asked several kids to choose their favourite one.

We, at AnimationXpress, recently conducted a survey at multiple schools in Mumbai to know who’s ruling the young hearts currently. We gave them a sheet of paper with all the above mentioned famous characters and asked the little folks to vote for their favourite.

While all the characters were appreciated much and seemed to have a distinct fan following, Little Singham got the most number of votes, cheers and love. Chhota Bheem, Rudra, Motu Patlu and Honey Bunny followed closely. It was a bubbly programme which was greeted with roars of laughter and lots of enthusiasm from the future citizens.

No matter which character has topped our list, Indian local animated characters have won big time in the hearts and minds of young ones.
