Remaking Fear: Evolution of the Body Snatchers

A 47-minute long video essay written, edited and narrated by Peet Gelderblom on the four movie adaptations of Jack Finney’s INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Produced by Directorama for Imagine Film Festival in association with RogerEbert.com. Nothing puts fear into people like a good story and INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS has proven to be one of the best. For over half a century pod people have been plotting against humanity and they never stay hidden for long. Since the original novel was published in 1954, Jack Finney’s classic paranoid fable has spawned an endless series of imitations and no less than four official movie adaptations. Every 15 to 20 years audiences around the world were faced with a different invading terror, tailored to address ever-changing social anxieties. Time after time, filmmakers invented new ways for people to fear the unknown, mistrust authority and oppose uniformity. These films together not only demonstrate the dangers that may befall us, but also epitomize the evolution of cinematic storytelling. To study them is to take a crash course in fabricating fear. This video was made solely for educational purposes and makes “fair use” of copyrighted material. Aardman announces sequel to ‘Chicken Run’

Aardman Animation has announced Chicken Run 2 after 18 year long wait as Hollywood Reporter reported. Though the animation studio hasn’t set a release date, it declared the news in a tweet with “Rocky and Ginger are coming home to roost!” tagline.

The Bristol-based studio has collaborated with StudioCanal (its partner for Early Man and Shaun the Sheep Movie) and Pathé (cofinancer of the original film with DreamWorks Animation and handled European distribution) for the feature.

Chicken Run (2000) which still remains highest-grossing stop-motion animation film of all-time ($224.8 million at the box office), centered around including Rocky and Ginger, desperate to escape the evil Mrs Tweedy’s clutches before her Yorkshire farm is turned into a chicken pot pie factory.

The original film (also Aardman’s first feature film) was directed by Lord and Nick Park, who created Wallace and Gromit, but Park does not appear to be attached to the sequel.

Sam Fell (ParaNorman, Flushed Away) is roped in to direct the film, with Paul Kewley (Shaun the Sheep Movie) producing it. The original Chicken Run writers Karey Kirkpatrick (Over the Hedge, The Smurfs 2) and John O’Farrell have been brought back to pen the screenplay though the story is kept under wraps. Aardman co-founders Peter Lord and David Sproxton will be the executive producers.

Chicken Run has received several critics association awards apart from BAFTA, Golden Globe and Annie Award nominations. No official confirmation has been made if members of the original cast, including Julia Sawalha as Ginger and Mel Gibson as cockerel Rocky Rhodes, will return to voice their respective characters.

Chicken Run 2 is pipelined after Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (due in 2019)  which is currently under production at Aardman.

MY TRUE EXISTING STATE

As a child, I would sit and wonder.  Escaping my body and this shared reality called the human existence.  Each day I begin with an open dialog to that child in hopes of losing myself in what I call the alternate mind.  Through the years I lose touch with that child from my earlier life.  In this dimension, I am able to alter time and space.  This is my true existing state.  A state of omnipotent flow.   That inner dialog caught between reality and another dimension existing through time and space.  That is where I gather what you see here today and present to you as me.  Myself.  Pure and defined.
