The Postman – AKAMA

When Lars, a postman, meets Karen’s gaze during his daily deliveries, it’s love at first sight. But Woofy, Karen’s dog, does not hear it that way. To him, the postman announces his arrival by the thundering sound of his vehicle so he intends to prevent Lars from approaching her too closely. To make sure this safety distance is respected, Woofy will make sure the Postman feels his presence. But fate will give Lars a boost: his old credenza is replaced by a brand new Renault Kangoo Z.E., electric…and silent. Therefore he can thwart the fierce surveillance of Woofy and finally see Karen again. Everything starts with an electric moment! The film was created by The Loft Publicis Conseil, directed by Akama, produced by WIZZ with Paris studio NKI nailing the 3D animation. Sound: Sixième Sens

Forms IV

Forms is a collaborative film series devised by London based, creative sound studio Mount Audio. The ongoing project sees Mount team up with leading visual artists each month to create unique audiovisual works. Forms IV features the inimitable aesthetic of multidisciplinary artist and designer Davy Evans. Davy combines analogue and digital techniques to create vibrant abstract imagery. Often using experimental photographic methods, light and liquid to replicate form and distortions, inspired by natural phenomena. Influenced by the artists analogue approach, Mount’s soundtrack is largely improvised and centres around an intimate piano progression. Playing off the visual’s glacial tones, the duo have combined ambient washes with delicate tuned percussion to create a deeply meditative accompaniment. KLIK Amsterdam Animation Festival gets new artistic director in Aneta Ozorek

KLIK announced that Aneta Ozorek will be taking on the role as artistic director.

The Polish-born festival curator, illustrator, and film education expert has over 15 years of experience in the industry and will be spearheading KLIK’s international ambitions.

Ozorek has a strong background in curating and developing animation initiatives in Poland and other European countries. She is head of shorts section at Visegrad Animation Forum, programmer at the Cinema in Sneakers Film Festival in Warsaw, and curator of the film section of the Street Art Festival in Katowice.

In 2017, she was responsible for the promotion of 70 years of Polish animation at some of the biggest European events in the animation industry: Annecy, Cartoon Forum, MIPCOM, MIPJunior, Cinekid and many others. Additionally, she is the Polish ambassador of the European Animation Award and member of the European Children Film Association.

Aneta Ozorek

KLIK general director Bram Kranendonk says, “Aneta’s strong international connections tie in with the international ambitions that KLIK has set itself: to strengthen KLIK’s international position in the animation landscape through international collaborations with other festivals and organisations and to promote what the Dutch animation industry has to offer all around the world.”

As new artistic director of KLIK, Ozorek intends to further establish KLIK as a festival that finds unique ways to connect art and business; and to intensify the international promotion of Dutch animation in Europe and beyond. Ozorek elaborates: “Everything started with chaos: friends, poetry, an experimental approach, brave program decisions, and a passion for the art of the moving image. KLIK was always connecting and inviting, never exclusive. Always collaborating, never competing. To set up an inspiring path into the future, we aim to further establish KLIK as platform that connects the greatest names in animation history with debutantes and the biggest studios with independent artists. An innovative approach in connecting art and business will be a core element of the KLIK identity. We are witnessing a multitude of international partnerships that take animation to a global scale, rarely seen before. KLIK wants to contribute to this process by building a European and global strategy for the whole industry.”

Ozorek steps into the footsteps of former artistic director Yvonne van Ulden, who led the organisation for the past nine years and helped develop it into an international player in the animation industry.

It’s a Tide Ad

David Harbour, known for his role as Chief Jim Hopper in the Netflix drama series Stranger Things, provides cameo after cameo in Procter & Gamble Super Bowl commercial “It’s A Tide Ad”. Aired during the NFL Super Bowl LII 2018, the Tide Ad series has David Harbour claiming that every time you see clean clothes in a Super Bowl commercial, it’s a Tide ad. The TV and movie star takes viewers on a journey spanning a wide variety of advertising clichés selling cars, insurance, perfume, pain relief, Coca Cola and beer. How do these seemingly random ads relate to Tide? Well, it’s simple. If you see clean clothes, it’s a Tide ad. David Harbour playing tennis? Tide ad. David Harbour as an insurance adjuster? Nope. Tide ad. David Harbour sitting on the back of a Lithuanian Long horse, flanked by Old Spice pitchman Isaiah Mustafa? Tide ad. How about David Harbour mopping the floor in all white, dressed like Mr. Clean from the 2017 Super Bowl? Yes, even that is a Tide ad. By now you get it. Whenever you see clean clothes, it’s a Tide ad.

Social media elements to the campaign included Twitter cameos by Betty White, Pittsburgh @Steelers All-Pro WR Antonio Brown, Danica Patrick, last year’s Tide Super Bowl presenter Terry Bradshaw, and Old Spice presenter Isaiah Mustafa.

The blue marble

After 3 months of work and probably more than 500 fails, I’m happy to present you my best video ever.
Since magnets and marbles I’ve always wanted to make a big chain reaction in one take with this 2D style !

It’s also a “one marble path” which means you have to follow the same marble for all the tricks (in that case the little blue one.) Because everything is in a tilted plane, the hard part was to find different ways of having the marble riding up along the table (magnets, falling weight, catapult …). To do that, the marble has to be light. And because everything has to be triggered by this little marble, all the tricks are very unstable. Most fails happened when an element fall down earlier than expected.

I learned a lot about chain reaction, and I discovered the amazing power of the hot glue gun !
