Nektons explore the mysterious depths of ocean in brand new season 2 of ‘The Deep’

DHX Media, Technicolor and A Stark Production have announced several new international broadcast deals for the CG-animated underwater adventure series, The Deep.

Newly signed deals for season two’s 13 half-hour episodes include Universal Kids (U.S.), Nickelodeon (Greece), NRK Super (Norway), YLE (Finland), POP (Italy), Biggs (Portugal), RTBF’s OUFtivi (Belgium), MBC3 (Middle East), Minimax (CEE), KidZone TV (Baltics), Multimania (Russia), Hop! (Israel), SVT (Sweden), TSR (Switzerland), SRC (French Canada) and Zap (Angola and Mozambique).

The Deep follows the adventures of the Nekton family which is a brilliant team of underwater explorers. With a state-of-the-art technology and an unquenchable thirst for discovery, the Nektons explore the mysterious depths of the ocean, where most of our world lies unexplored and unexplained.

Season two’s much anticipated new episodes will debut on Australia’s ABC ME daily from 22 August, and started rolling out weekly in July on the UK’s CBBC in their popular Faves at Five Slot.

“A commitment to a second season of The Deep from so many international broadcasters is testament to the show’s massive popularity with kids and families, worldwide,” said DHX Media EVP distribution and content Josh Scherba. “The Deep is fun, fresh and full of excitement, and we are extremely pleased with the results of this collaboration with Technicolor and A Stark Production.”

The animated series has garnered international industry awards, including the 2017 Kidscreen Award for best new series (kids category) and most recently, the Golden Sparrow Award at the German Children’s Media Festival.

The Deep is a co-production between Australia based A Stark Production (scripts, design and music) and Canada based DHX Media (animation, voices and post-production), with distribution also handled by DHX Media. Technicolor, underlying rights holder to The Deep, has oversight of the brand’s licensing extensions, with CPLG (a DHX Media company) serving as the multi-territory licensing agent for the brand.

CRPF commandos immortalised as their epic stories turn into comic books

The grueling hardships in the lives of the soldiers are well documented. But now, one can see it for themselves through the eyes of the jawans as comic books chronicling the real-life stories of CRPF commandos is making its release.

Whilst the likes of GI Joe and Commando entail the hot pursuit of a whole squadron of soldiers, Dheer Dharmendra and Bahadur Biresh bring to the fore the unknown tales of the two jawans in particular (of the same name) and their martyrdoms.

Both recipients of the prestigious President Gallantry Award, their unblemished service to the army has been turned into graphical novels to inspire the younger generation of this country, and also simultaneously bring to the light their sacrifices and brevity. A CRPF official says, “As kids, we used to read Commando comics which were based on the World Wars. But here, we have true stories so that kids can know about the real battles.”

Talking of the accessibility of the comics, he further adds, “These comics books could be procured free of cost from Kendriya Vidyalayas and CRPF libraries”. And as a matter of fact, these comics are available in print and digital format both, but published currently in only Hindi.

The comics also encompass the bloody times when they faced the threat of terrorists and Maoists, from Pakistan and China, and how they weathered the storm.

Published by CRPF’s in-house publishing house, Dheer Dharmendra and Bahadur Biresh are the first comic books published by an Indian paramilitary/armed force.

‘In a Heartbeat’ captures the essence of love beyond gender norms through the animated lens

Animation has always surpassed the capabilities of storytelling by exploring the un-done. In a world increasingly gripped by chaos, fear and hate, small stories like ‘In a Heartbeat’ flare up some hope.

The story revolves around a closeted guy in love with someone from the same gender. While his heart goes after him, he is obviously scared about the fact, what will people say. But as they say the heart wants what it wants, he ends up in a confronting situation with his love interest in front of a crowd and the awkward stares breaks his heart. Saddened by the incident he isolates himself and resorts to weeping, however the other guy comes in to mend his broken heart and start something new together.

As simple as the story is, it passes on an important message that it is okay to love beyond gender norms.

The animation has been done in a beautiful manner capturing the essence of the story in a very common yet beautiful way. Watch it for yourself!

As environmental scientist David Orr wrote in his book Ecological Literacy: Educating Our Children for a Sustainable World, “The planet does not need more successful people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds.”

Latest cover of ‘Dark Nights: Metal’ is out… and it is spookier than ever!

The highly awaited Batman crossover comic Dark Nights: Metal is almost upon us, and the excitement soared to greater heights when a new and more freakish poster was unveiled lately.

Designed by Andy Kubert and John Romita, the latest poster shows Batman and Wonder Woman supposedly under threat by the humongous and abhorrent beast ‘Swamp Thing’, which gets its most horrific look till date.

Though it’s a well known fact that this crossover will be the most badass in the history of Batman, this terrifying cover of the same gives a small insight into the dark, pernicious world against whose backdrop the latest comic series is set. Quite evidently, Batman and Wonder Woman have to bite way more than they can chew!

The first issue, Dark Nights: Metal #1, is due for a 16 August 2017 release.

Top six benefits of web-based video editing

People in video-creative fields are highly recommended to switch to web-based video editing and rendering these days owing to several different reasons. Apart from the variety of video applications available on these platforms, you get access to many online tools that enable you to get all your work done quickly. You may find many of these features missing in the desktop applications.

Let’s go over and explore the top six benefits of web-based video editing.

1.Improves productivity

This is by far the biggest reason why more and more people are switching over to web-based video editing these days. Many things can go wrong when you are working with a desktop video-editing application. Furthermore, you’ll need to constantly download the needed clips when using a desktop-editing software, however, in case of a cloud-based video editing service, you can use any feature, tool or clip anytime you need, without any complications or downloads. It would save you a plenty of time and storage space.

2.Streamlined workflow

If you actively use cloud storage to save your videos, it may make all the more sense to use some cloud-based video software to edit them whenever you need. It will all work together in a very streamlined manner and your workflow will be as good as it can be.

3.Better scalability

While you may require several gigabytes of storage space for certain types of videos, your other projects may not need a lot of storage. When you’re working with a web-based video editing tool connected to cloud storage, you get access to all the space you need, whenever you need it. And it’s all on pay-and-use basis; hence you don’t pay a dime when you’re not using the service. So, the next time you get a project which requires storage of extremely large video files, you won’t have much to worry about.

4.Improved collaboration

Another key benefit of using a web-based or cloud-based video editing service is that you can have your entire team join in and contribute to the editing process. There’ll be no sending and/or receiving of huge files. All your team members would need to do is log onto a common platform and see the changes happening in real time. This is something very difficult to accomplish in desktop applications.

5.Ease of use

Using a web-based video editing software does away with any unwanted hassles. You can easily integrate your preferred web-based editor with the online video platform you use. Such integration would contribute to the innovativeness and productivity of your company.

6.Cost reduction

Storing high-volume videos and data on local systems can prove to be a very expensive affair, especially if you’re already invested into high-tech computer systems. An efficient web-based video editing software can be a blessing in such a scenario. You can easily backup all your important files without the need of any local storage – all for a nominal fee, paid on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.

‘Perfect Places’
Every night,
I live and die
Feel the party to my bones
Watch the wasters blow the speakers,
Spill my guts beneath the outdoor light
It’s just another graceless night
I hate the headlines and the weather,
I’m nineteen and I’m on fire
But when we’re dancing I’m alright
It’s just another graceless night

Are you lost enough?
Have another drink, get lost in us
This is how we get notorious
Cause I don’t know,
If they keep telling me where to go
I’ll blow my brains out to the radio

All of the things we’re taking
’cause we are young and we’re ashamed
Send us to perfect places
All of our heroes fading
Now I can’t stand to be alone
Let’s go to perfect places

Every night, I live and die
Meet somebody, take ’em home
Let’s kiss and then take off our clothes
It’s just another graceless night

All the nights spent off our faces
Tryna find these perfect places
What the fuck are perfect places anyway?
