School of Motion’s Design Bootcamp: A Journal

What’s it really like to go through an intensive “bootcamp” course online?

To find out, we asked School of Motion for one seat in their Design Bootcamp class, which we would award to a lucky student. In turn, that student would share an honest journal of their experience on Motionographer.

GALAXY GATES ( Directed by Oilhack & Thomas Blanchard )

« Galaxy gates » is the pride of our collection. It is the result of a 4 months long job. Due to the very high selection standards, less than 2% of the shots taken were used to create this immersive video. First, paints are mixed, then they are “opened”, a specific process that we have worked out while on a trip in Japan. “GALAXY GATES” is an experimental dreamlike video rocking us smoothly through circular moves. The visual compositions have been created out of paint, oil and soap liquid. The Left and Right of Capitalism with Jonathan Haidt

The Left and Right of Capitalism with Jonathan Haidt. What we believe influences what we perceive far more than we would like to admit to. Renowned social psychologist Jonathan Haidt uses an optical illusion to demonstrate how our brains are influenced, and how most of us stick unswervingly to one of two persuasive stories about capitalism. He believes we must push ourselves beyond these entrenched narratives and develop a ‘third story’ – one that incorporates some of the objective truths of both, and abandons the gut-level assumptions on either side.

Watch Jonathan Haidt, social psychologist, in our latest RSA Spotlight – the edits which take you straight to the heart of the event! Loved this snippet? Listen to the full podcast here: https://soundcloud.com/the_rsa/capitalism-and-morality-beyond-left-and-right

Jonathan Haidt on Why We’re Convinced We’re Right (and everyone else is wrong!)

Are you trapped in an online echo chamber? Society is becoming ever more divided as we seek out information that reinforces our views – but how do we avoid ending up dogmatic and entrenched? Renowned social psychologist Jonathan Haidt shares a shocking personal example of confirmation bias on social media, and shows just how vital it is for us to open up and absorb ideas from across the political spectrum.
