You’ve probably heard the statistic that nearly half of all films produced before 1950 are entirely lost, and that’s only one of the many reasons that proper restoration and preservation is so important. Let’s dive in and take a look at three different films all in different stages of the restoration process, plus take a look at how film restoration as a whole has evolved and continues to evolve in an increasingly digital world. Red Bull Twitch ‘n’ Ride is the Latvians’ idea of a good time: step into some (preferably old and someone else’s) skis and get dragged around a motorcross track with 40 or so other rides at crazy speeds, taking on snow, ice and dirt, and some pretty evil kickers. It’s skijoring, and it’s F’in awesome.
Around 150 teams had gathered for the day to race in various classes according to bike engine size. Teams would compete in two races, each one consisting of 10 minutes, plus two laps. (So that’s about 17 minutes of non-stop squats and arm pulls.)
