Short film about the exploration on breathhold of the biggest wreck in Mediterranean sea, by 3 world champions Guillaume Néry, Morgan Bourc’His and Rémy Dubern. All the images were shot between 40 meters and 50 meters by Jérôme Espla (Poisson Lune Production) and his team with a RED EPIC. Officially introduced in April 2016 by the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this introductory video explains the idea behind the concept and credits partners from Slovakia, who have been both inspiration and a proof of the concept.

We introduce Cubimorph, a modular interactive
device that accommodates touchscreens on each of the six
module faces, and that uses a hinge-mounted turntable
mechanism to self-reconfigure in the user’s hand. Cubimorph
contributes toward the vision of programmable matter where
interactive devices reconfigure in any shape that can be made
out of a chain of cubes in order to fit a myriad of
functionalities, e.g. a mobile phone shifting into a console when
a user launches a game. We present a design rationale that
exposes user requirements to consider when designing
homogeneous modular interactive devices. We present our
Cubimorph mechanical design, three prototypes demonstrating
key aspects (turntable hinges, embedded touchscreens and
miniaturization), and an adaptation of the probabilistic
roadmap algorithm for the reconfiguration.

This was exponentially more difficult and exhausting to do than my Pokemon collage. But I said I was going to do it, and I did it. There were A LOT of 1hr-sleep-nights that lead to this drawing’s completion. I spent over 191 working hours and 60 live drawing sessions to finish. Freehanded completely in Photoshop using a Wacom Cintiq.
This has every Champion up to Taliyah. I’ll be updating this drawing as more Champions come out.
Thanks to everyone who was so supportive of the livestream sessions as I worked on this project.
