Quiknesse, 2009 flipbook machine

The wall-sculpture Quiknesse is like a motorised flipbook, creating the illusion of a bird in flight by the mechanised, rapid rotation of successive drawings in what Fontanive has called ‘films without light’. the fluttering of wings seems mimicked by the swiftly flapping pages, all accompanied by the regular shuffling sound of falling paper – a movement assisted by gravity which, paradoxically, keeps the bird forever in flight, never able to find rest and land. -Gilda Williams

MAXON Announces Participation at After Effects World

Mon 22nd Sep 2014 | News

MAXON is sponsoring and participating in the After Effects World Conference, which will take place September 26 – 28, 2014, in Seattle. Now in its second year, the conference gathers innovators, VFX and motion graphics professionals for an in-depth exploration of Adobe After Effects CC and its pipeline to other software applications that enhance user creativity.

MAXON Cinema 4D, the company’s powerful 3D animation software solution for film, broadcast and motion graphics professionals, is acclaimed for delivering seamless integration and performance into After Effects for exceptional 3D/2D workflow performance. During AE World, Cinema 4D and After Effects design professionals, educators and industry influencers will lead training sessions, conversations and in-depth workshops that focus on the essential elements for taking advantage of these two powerhouse visual effects and motion graphics applications. Industry heavy-weights participating at this year’s conference include Steve Forde, Kanen Flowers, Jayse Hansen, Richard Harrington, EJ Hassenfratz, Chris Meyer, Trish Meyer, Thanassis Pozantzis, Ian Robinson, and others. A complete list of After Effects World Conference sessions and speakers is available here.

MAXON sessions at AE World will focus on CINEWARE, a ‘live’ 3D pipeline between CINEMA 4D and After Effects, introduced in 2013, that benefits artists with a streamlined workflow. In addition, sessions will also center on CINEMA 4D Lite, a limited, yet feature-rich, version of CINEMA 4D that launches directly from within After Effects CC, giving artists access to a full 3D application.

Jayse Hansen, a freelance HUD/Holograph designer/animator, will share his technical film content creation artistry as a keynote speaker at AE World. “I’ll be breaking down the process I’ve evolved for designing and animating high-tech UI’s, HUDs and holograms for films like The Avengers, Iron Man 3, and Ender’s Game,” says Hansen. “It’s the same basic workflow I’m using in upcoming films like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Mockingjay Part 2 and Disney’s Big Hero 6. Cinema 4D, with its smooth integration with After Effects, always plays a vital role. It is essential for me, not only in completing final shots used in the film, but also for concept work and brainstorming ideas for new and unique fictional UI’s that help tell stories.”

EJ Hassenfratz, Emmy Award-winning Creative Director at Eyedesyn and well-known Cinema 4D community member and trainer, will lead several AE World sessions to help attendees learn how to create motion graphics and animation content. “MAXON has worked diligently on the integration of Cinema 4D with After Effects and you can very easily see it as an extension of the Adobe ecosystem,” says Hassenfratz. “Cinema 4D is the perfect 3D application to help After Effects artists easily and seamlessly break into that third dimension and that’s what I’m excited to share at the AE World Conference!”

During session breaks, conference attendees are also invited to the MAXON tabletop exhibit at AE Expo to see demonstrations of CINEMA 4D Release 16 (R16), the next generation release of the industry-leading 3D software solution, launched earlier this month which offers countless new features and workflow enhancements.

“The AE World Conference offers Cinema 4D users an ideal opportunity to sharpen their After Effects proficiency and learn valuable production techniques from some of today’s most accomplished motion graphics and VFX artists,” says Paul Babb, MAXON US president/CEO. “The focused conference content delving into Cinema 4D Lite will be especially inspiring to designers just getting started in 3D content creation and animation to deepen their understanding and capabilities for adding a new dimension inside their compositing projects.”

MAXON also invites AE World attendees to check-out “WinC4D.com” a new contest web site where digital artists utilizing After Effects and Cinema 4D Lite can compete in theme-related animation contests. Details are available here.

The After Effects World Conference will be taking place at the Meydenbauer Convention Center in Bellevue, Seattle WA. Additional conference details are available here.
