Making RAEN – Carlo & Dante Mondavi Official Trailer

Two brothers from winemaking lineage venture out on their own to break from the estate vineyard model and to show that young winemakers can still have a harvest. RAEN is the first creation from Carlo & Dante Mondavi. The Mondavi legacy has spread outward from Napa Valley for more than a century. Carlo and Dante strive to explore and to find their own path in the creation of their own wine while testing the rules and boundaries of their childhood. These contrasting worlds and trials lead to their first 2013 RAEN creation. The brothers are showing that a world class Pinot Noir can be made by young winemakers from the unusual climate of the Sonoma Coast. “Making Raen” by Carlo and Dante Mondavi will be released June 2014 as a short film, accompanied by the pre-order for the first bottles of the 2013 vintage RAEN, Pinot Noirs.

Autodesk Announces Maya LT 2015 Extension 1

Wed 18th Jun 2014 | News

Today Autodesk announced the first extension release for Maya LT 2015. The update enhances the animation experience for professional indie game makers by allowing artists to create more elaborate characters and environmental objects. The animation export tool gives artists a completely new method of exporting multiple animations per FBX file, making it easier to get animated content into a game engine, while set driven key and utility nodes help artists better control the relationships between objects in a scene.

New features include:

— Game Exporter: simplifies how models and animations are exported from Maya LT for use in game engines, allowing artists to define their ideal export settings and have them saved the next time the file is opened. Artists can define multiple animation clips within the tool by giving each a name along with a start and stop frame.

— Added Set Driven Key: gives artists an easier way to link animations in one scene. For example, having one character jump, while another ducks, simultaneously. Set Driven Key also improves interoperability with certain auto-rigging tools, making it easier for Maya LT users to leverage those tools to create their character rigs.

— Rigging Utility Nodes: New utility nodes in Maya LT let artists finely tweak and adjust their character rigs and animations in the node editor, giving riggers and animators better control over character animations. The new utility nodes also make it easier for artists to use auto-generated character rigs.

The extension for Maya LT will be available today for all current monthly and perpetual customers.

Mastering an(i)ma Tutorial Series

Wed 18th Jun 2014 | News

AXYZ design has released a series of tutorials in order to help users get the best out of an(i)ma® 1.6, the latest version of their crowd simulation software. Tutorials are available on aXYZ website, along with a free scene, to illustrate the concepts explained.

Key features highlighted in these series:

“Setting up your workflow” is the first tutorial, and takes a detailed look at creating new projects with an(i)ma, on a high level of artistic freedom, with an easy-to-use workflow. From importing and exporting reference geometry from an architectural scene, to fine tuning animations by adjusting the paths and properties of individual characters

“Stairs and escalators” is the second tutorial of series, focusing on creating sequences of animations to add characters to stairs, escalators and moving walkways.

The third tutorial is “standing and seated characters” and explains how to add fixed path animations to characters. This feature is used for creating actors that sit, stand, use doors, elevators, and much more.

The next step on the development roadmap for an(i)ma® crowd simulation software will be an(i)ma® 1.7, to be released on July 2014, and including a FBX/Colada exporter as main feature.
