RESPONSIBILITIES:
• compositing of both digital and live action elements to create groundbreaking visual effects shots for blockbuster films
• Collaborate with fellow artist and supervisors to meet challenging production deadlines in a positive work environment

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be well versed Nuke (background with Shake considered a plus)
• Should have a good understanding of 3d multi-pass rendering techniques and colorspace concepts
• Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
• An understanding of stereo (3D) and anamorphic compositing in Nuke
• Artists must be able to take direction and work in a team focused environment, good communication skills are a must
• Relocation assistance may be available subject to negotiation

Lens fare in Stereoscopic shot

I want to do this small 3d shot in the upcoming days and want advice on how do add lensfare on a all 3D stereoscopic shot.

the shot in question has a camera rotating around a 3d scene. and i want to add a lensfare to the sun which gets occluded by the 3d talent.

ive heard that adding flares in a stereoscopic shot is complicated. pls share advice or personal experience.

Can i become an animator by starting as body match move artist

Hi every one i am zohaib self taught character animator from Pakistan.
I have been animating for 4 years now in Pakistan but don’t feel like improving my skills there r not much jobs opportunities for character animators here, and like any artist i want to improve and work in better studios. but so far i am unsuccessful to break in as animator out side Pakistan, so i am wondering to become a match move artist and follow this path to break in and then find a way to become animator because there are lot more match move jobs then entry level animators.
what do u guys think, is it possible.

Senior Texture Artist

A Toronto based VFX studio is looking for a Senior Digital Texture Artist to join there team.

With an emphasis on the aesthetics and techniques of photo-realistic effects, the texture artist will be responsible for creating photo-real texture and relevant maps. These will be rendered using established industry tested rendered software and proprietary renderers.

A strong understanding of real world materials is essential and must be demonstrated in the work on your reel.

Texture artists work closely with the modeling, shading and lighting artists. Therefore a thorough knowledge of each discipline must be demonstrated.

As a texture artist you must:

. be able to perform rough composites of your assets in Nuke
. have the ability to demonstrate proficiency in creating photo-realistic textures
. help establish suitable working techniques for the members of your team
. work in conjunction with the production team (producer, VFX Supervisor,
CG supervisor) to establish schedules and technical requirements
. work in partnership with lighters and compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard

Requirements include,

. successful completion of a Visual Effects diploma from a recognized Institution
. strong artistic skills
. a traditional arts background with emphasis on photo-realistic character
work and environments would be an asset
. formal training in Autodesk Maya texturing methodologies
. working knowledge of multi-pass rendering, lighting, matchmoving and NURBS modeling

Overall Job Purpose:
  • To provide a wide variety of dynamic simulations for character-based work, including clothing, hair, muscle and skin.
Responsibilities:
  • The creation of simulation rigs for characters and creatures, using Maya nCloth & additional proprietary tools
  • Shot execution using simulation rigs, and the delivery of finished assets to the Lighting Department
  • Liaison with other departments involved in the creature workflow – eg, Modelling, Rigging, Animation & Lighting
  • Involvement in the development of Departmental tools and techniques
Key Skills & Experience:
Essential:
  • Previous production experience on CG creature projects
  • Proficiency in using Maya
  • Experience with some of the following types of dynamic simulation: cloth, hair/fur, feathers, skin and muscle
  • Experience of creating simulation rigs and setups for shows
  • Good problem solving skills
  • An appreciation of both the aesthetic and technical requirements of the role
  • A good eye for detail
  • A strong work ethic, and a willingness to be involved in both development & shot execution
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a challenging and deadline orientated environment
  • Good understanding of pipeline and workflow issues
  • Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise across departments
Desirable:
