What I would change in the next update:
– keep quicker the Name+Title part
– breakdown of the lateral matte painting with the cyberpunk sidewalk
– perhaps moving the last shot with the burnout in the middle somewhere (but I don’t care too much since I’m usually applying as Compositor and not as Roto Artist).
– what else do you suggest?

I’m currently looking for job in LA.

Canon .CR2 (RAW) files into Nuke?

Hi All,

So I’m working on a project that I’m shooting a few background plates for with a Canon 5D mII and I’m shooting in camera raw to get the best image quality.

Now instead of opening those raw files up in Adobe RAW, tone-mapping it and then spitting it out as a 8-bit image to use in my comp… I’m wondering if theres a way to bring my RAW image data into Nuke to take advange of RAW’s linear 12-bit color depth, which I can CC myself later down the line.

No use throwing away perfectly good color info… right?

Any ideas on how I could do this? Thanks!

Lighting TD: Fin Design + Effects: Sydney

Fin Design + Effects is looking for a full time Lighting TD for their Surry Hills, Sydney office.

The successful applicant would take the point position at Fin in the lighting realm. Duties would include developing, maintaining and executing a consistent lighting pipeline apllicable to all jobs that come through the door. With backup from our R&D team and VFX supervisors, the applicant would be the go-to person for making things look photoreal, developing pipeline tools to speed up the lighting workflow for other artists and scoping out the way forward in terms of renderers and lighting techniques.

Extensive experience in mental ray for Maya and a great eye are essential. Scripting, shader writing and Renderman related skills are highly desirable, as is a strong familiarity with Nuke compositing.

Please send CV and Reel to: billy@findesign.com.au

Other hobbies besides VFX?

Hey all,

I was wondering today what kind of things the people here like to do besides VFX. I’m guessing half the people on here are photographers (count me in that group too). What else? Painting/sculpting/drawing? Chess? Writers? Directors? UFO-spotters?

I’m an amateur composer. I’ve done a few short film scores and write a lot of orchestral music just for fun. Anyone who wants to give me a listen can check out: http://www.youtube.com/user/daddywags214

Qmaster and render ???

Hi folks,

I would like to know if someone cans answer at my question… I rendered a Shake’s script on Quad core 3,33 GHZ and watch CPU activities… I got over 350% of using my CPU… But it’s not seem more faster than my Macbook pro DUO 2.8 GHZ…

So I decided to render on QMASTER… All it’s fine and faster… But, at the end, I only got a movie with a short length… My rendering setup it’s ok (all frame selected, step: 1 and minimum: 10 ) and all files were rendered ( check on batch monitor ) … But QMASTER seems only keep the first 10 frames and doesn’t mix with the other rendering process from the same script.

Someone knows how to fix QMASTER ? Thank you for your advices!
