80’s lightning effects

Hey there, I’m fairly new at all this and I’m not even sure If I’m posting in the correct place but I was wondering If there was anyone here knowledgeable in 80s lighting special effects as seen in films like Ghostbusters and Big Trouble in Little China
I understand the effects are 2d animated and rendered onto RT video but I was wondering if there were any special tools to help replicate these kinds of effects today? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Corner Pin – Perspective Positioner

Hi!

I tracked a animated screen onto an notebook screen. In the last second i have to zoom in, so that the upper picture (the boy) is fullscreen. I did it with a corner pin for the picture and a perspective positioner for the footage with the girl. I´m wondering about the easiest way to do this, so that I have only two keyframes for the cornerpin. Can I link the perspective positioner to the cornerpin in some way? Or is there some easier method.

thanks

Roto contact shadows?

When doing roto of an element that is in contact with the ground, is it a good idea to roto part of the contact shadow of the object resting on the ground? Or do you want to stick to just the object and comp a shadow in later?

see the attached picture for an example of what I mean.

Yeah, I’m new. :rollbaby:

Thanks

Card to camera alignment question

I have a quick question that I hope there is a simple answer to 🙂

I’ve imported a camera from my 3D application, and I have a frame that I want to use as a reference for some matte-painting. For that I would like to align a card to that specific frame, so that it fills the view and is aligned to the camera. Is there a quick way to align a card to the current camera view?

I tried searching the Nuke PDF, but couldn’t find anything. I hope someone here can help!

Parisian Domination Continues: Jonas Francois

This isn’t exactly breaking news, but Paris is absolutely killing the global music video scene right now. In my opinion, El Niño has been one of the recent leaders in the charge. To continue their run of dropping a hit nearly every week, is this recent effort from Jonas & Francois for Audiobullys.

Firing on so many cylinders, this video hits great performance, inventive camera work, custom type (molded into the bottom of soles), brilliant sense of detail and a solid track to boot.

If you’ve not been following Jonas & Francois closely for the past few years, you just might remember their massive first hit for D.A.N.C.E. back in Spring of ‘07.
