Nasty Edges on HPX170 / HVX200

Hey Guys,

I just shot some greenscreen footage on the HPX170 and noticed some bad edges happening (almost like a halo) in the red and blue channel.
I have had similar issues before on the HVX200 and I have been told that it could be a lighting issue. However I have no indication on how to adjust the stage lighting to get rid of these artifacts.

Has anyone here had similar issues with these cameras? And if so, how can I avoid it on future projects? is it simply a compression issue or can I avoid it by improved lighting / settings ? (and if so, how exactly do I have to light to avoid the artifacts?)

Please let me know if you have any idea, because I have researched it before and even though people say they get clean footage with these cameras they don’t seem to be willing to say how they do it…

Thanks everyone!

Is time mapping possible in Nuke?

I’m trying to create a time mapping effect in which each pixel will be taken from the same position of the source sequence but from a moment in time defined by a b/w matte called time map. So for example if I have a sequence going thru the time mapper and using a b/w top down gradient (white up and black down) as time map and I gain that time map from 0 to 1 the effect will be that the top of the frame will play earlier time than the the bottom of the frame which will play later time. I don’t know if this is making sense to you but if you’re familiar with fusion it has similar tool. There’s also the custom tool in fusion where you can define the value of each pixel using a formula so if there’s something similar in nuke that’s another way to do it. Basically if you define the start of the range and end of the range of the time you need to map:
RGBresult(t)=RGBsource(ValueOfTimeMap(t)*(EndOfRan ge-StartOfRange)+StartOfRange)

Physical comedy short: SCAPEGOAT

I just made a new little flick I thought you guys might appreciate and enjoy.

The flick was made as a submission to a Scandinavian shortfilm contest. The challenge was to make a film within 48 hours from coming up with an idea to finished having a finished production with “scapegoat” as the topic of the movie.
You can view the flick here on Youtube, it’s about 4 1/2 minutes long:

Scapegoat

The film was shot in 5-6 hours and edited in about 12 hours – enjoy!

Jesus2000

A hip short created by another crop of brilliant students at Gobelins by the names of Rémi Bastie, Jean-Baptiste Cumont, Clément Desnos, Jonathan Djob Nkondo and Nicolas Pegon. A cute idea that is carried along by energetic Flash animation, which seems to be a focus that is growing in popularity at Gobelins. Maybe we can look forward to a rise in flash animation quality for film and television in the coming years if this trend continues.

Not to mention that this is another short produced entirely at Wizz Design who helped produce another short, Flying V: Virgile, earlier this year.

hi everybody,
I am trying to understand what a proper work flow is for a small post-house? I need to design a small pipeline for our company. we are doing some changes to improve the quality of our work and I would appreciate if anybody can give me some ideas about workflow and pipeline in general or details. ANY advice, suggestion or information would be much appreciated.

black pixels on 3d card projections…

I’ve noticed some black pixels scattered around my image, due to the row/columns attribute on the 3d Card. When I start bumping up the count to around 250 or so, black pizels appear. Anyone else seen these or know how to avoid them?

Other than lowering the count, I need it that high, because I’m projecting some gradient maps on it to drive displacement, and it looks like garbage if the poly count is too low.
