Looking for Rotoscoping Solution

Hey everyone
I am currently working on a short clip that requires me to rotoscope an actor out of the footage. I am am using after effects and a wacom tablet. I am finding it just a little tedious having to move each point for every frame(i know thats what rotoscoping basically is but i have heard a lot of poeple saying AE isnt all that great at it). What i want to do is be able to draw a new mask every frame. Because the first frame has a great looking mask that was drawn with the tablet and i wanted to just be able to do that for every frame, not move the points. Is there a program out there that can achieve this?or is not even possible? Oh and i also tried a filmstrip in photoshop and erasing the background but that is worse:(
Thanks in advance

Can nuke warp footage with a displacement map(similar to AE effect)?

In AE I can use the displacement map effect under the distort menu and use my own B&W displacement map to create a cool effect. I can just use this effect in AE for this shot, but I would rather learn how to do it in Nuke and just tweak it in there because my comp is built there. It isn’t that much of a hassle to just do the effect in AE, on the tracked plates that I get out of Nuke. But, I just want to learn! What I am achieving in AE is the effect of warping from a plastic screen being in the foreground of a shot with a nodal pan. I am pretty new to Nuke by the way, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Tracking just Y axis movement

Is this possible? I am tracking a vertical nodal pan and there is no movement in the x axis, but because of warping on the entire plate from plastic screens in the foreground, I am getting choppy translations in the x axis. I am applying a clean plate to this shot and don’t have to worry too much about the y movement because i will be adding a displacement map to the tracked clean plate using AE. So, I just need some Y axis tracking with the x axis tracking being 0. Actually now that I think about it, I can probably just hand track the Y movement, but for my own general knowledge I would like to know if I can just obtain Y axis data from the tracker. Thanks ahead of time!

Chroma footage for sale survey

Hello guys and gals

I’m doing a small 5-question survey concerning the availability of online chroma (green/blue screen) footage. I don’t know about you but i’m having a really hard time finding any reasonably priced clips online. I was wondering what you guys would think? It’ll take less than 30 secs of your time to answer, and i would really appreciate your input.

By the way, i’ve allowed myself to post the link to this survey on other related forums and in so please do not consider this as spam. All contribution from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all

Procedural Model Makeup

I’ve been in after effects for a long time and became lazy and dependent on plugs for this type of work. After some time Nuke I can’t go back to AE so…

I started on a girl’s "makeup" today and would love any input you may have. I shared an EXR and my beginning script. I hoped to share and learn any great tips you guys may have and care to share.

1. There maybe a better way to get a skin key
2. It seemed that a masked median node worked fairly well but there maybe a prettier way for this
3. A subtle skin tinted and masked glow

I haven’t worked on the eyes yet, but this open game! Let’s see your chops!

Z-Depth from Fusion’s 3D Scene

Hi guys,
First post! I am setting up a 3d scene in Fusion, it’s all very simple – just some planes at different distances and a simple camera sweep. All it well, but I’m going for a simple fogging-whilst-receeding effect. I was wondering it there were a simple way to do this in a 3D scene in Fusion, or, failing that, there is a way of essentially making a z-depth in Fusion based on a 3d camera, which I could then plug into the Deep Pixel fog (or, if I’m feeling cheap, simply screen over the top out my render!)

Any ideas? Thanks very much!

Dan
