help setting up enviromental for gizmos

hi

Sorry but im very new to Nuke , Im also having problems setting up nuke and it reading customs gizmos,

dont know what im doing wrong.

im running in a tcsh environment on my mac.

so ive got a .tcshrc file in my root that reads

setenv NUKE_PATH /Applicaions/Nuke5.1v2/Nuke5.1v2.app
setenv NUKE_PATH /Users/patrickwong/macros/Nuke_setup/plugins
alias nuke /Applications/Nuke5.1v2/Nuke5.1v2.app/Nuke5.1v2

ive made a init.py and a menu.tcl file, they are in the folder above the gizmos, ( is this where they should sit?) But am not sure what to write in them? ie what variables to setup….

Am i correct im suppose to place the .gizmos into that folder ‘gizmos’ and then nuke will find it. I also remember hearing that im supposed to

put a

menu "Draw/Pat slate" {slate}

into the menu.tcl file.

Please Help ,

thanks

pat

On Set VFX Tips Answers The Age Old Question – “How Big Is That Thing?”

If your ever been on set and need to survey something really tall you basically have two options.

  1. Shimmy up said tall object with a tape measure clenched between your teeth or..
  2. Use a spiffy trick with an inclinometer to tell how tall the thing is from your foldable camping chair whilst you sip a frothy beverage

If you are like me and like the sound of #2, all you’ll need is a Suunto Tandem Inclinometer, a laser tape measure and the magic of “math”. Check it out it’s actually very handy

Dougal Wilson Gives Coldplay the Punch & Judy Treatment

coldplay-460
Dougal Wilson, who has spent the last few years solidifying himself as one of London’s most interesting directors, recently released this video for Coldplay’s Life In Technicolor II. I know the puppet thing has been done a few times recently and pretty well to boot (once by Dougal in fact). But, he has unsurprisingly brought his trademark charm to yet another one. Based on the traditional English puppet show Punch & Judy, puppet versions of Coldplay break the fourth wall and fill the room with pure arena rock.

Super Quickie: My favorite spot from all the Super Bowl shenanigans was this gem starring Alec Baldwin, dreamed up by Crispin Porter + Bogusky for Hulu. Method’s visual effects work got the job done, but the writing and editing steal the show.
