Matchmove/Composite Car

Matchmove/composite Car v2.1 from Dashinuke on Vimeo.

An attempt at matchmoving and compositing a CG element into a filmed shot. Used Boujou for tracking, Maya mental ray for rendering. Compositing was done in After Effects, although I’m also learning nodebased compositing (Nuke) and I’ll switch over to Nuke later.

The filmed shot is terrible, it has some rolling shutter artifacts which clearly give it away at the end, but it was the best I had for this test.

I used a z-depth and a motion vector pass for post-motion blur, I tried to add a slight lightwrap, but I’m not 100% satisfied with that yet. And I’m not completely satisfied with the backside of the car. Hence it’s a WIP 😉

Any feedback is appreciated, about lightning and setting up the CG element in Maya, and specially about compositing, since I’m just getting started with compositing. I would like to know whats mostly giving it away that it’s fake, and improve my composite.

:thanks:
