Workflow consultant

Stop-motion project seeks digital workflow specialist to create batch scripts and workflow for Canon RAW files to Log DPX.

We are shooting .cr2 Canon raw files on 3 x Canon 60D cameras. We would like to develop a scripted, hot folder-based workflow around DCRAW and GraphicsMagick – or suitable equivalent – to batch render the Canon .cr2 files into (2k or 4k, TBD) 10bit DPX image sequences with a color transform into a film-like log space.

From that point forward, we would treat the material as scanned negative, viewing and grading through a print-stock LUT, and liaising with our VFX house as though the material were film-originated and scanned.

Willing to discuss other format options (EXR, for example, instead of DPX if that makes more sense).

Our priority is the transform from the Camera raw .cr2 files into the log (or EXR equivalent) space. As part of that transform, we would like to incorporate a carefully designed or process controlled color table to get from the Canon color space into a film-like space (by which I mean, non-video: specifically this is as much a color challenge as a workflow challenge).

Also willing to look at any existing software or workflow equivalents.

Budget available for the consulting work.
