VFX for Dovecote Records Music Video

Hello

We’re a young production company based in LA- we just finished shooting a music video for Hooray for Earth’s single True Loves (Dovecote Records) and we were wondering if someone could come on board the project as a cg artist.

A bit about us- our last project, a music video for Baths’ track Lovely Bloodflow was ranked #3 on IFC’s best music videos of 2010 and we’ve made into Pitchforks Top Videos of the Year for the last two years in a row. Here’s a link to our Baths vid: http://vimeo.com/14396311. Some of our other work can be seen on our site http://www.youngreplicant.com.

The effect we’re looking for is a spherical portal of thick black smoke that materializes from thin air-perhaps with FumeFX. The smoke will need to be comped into a total of 7 shots. The video is a surreal sci-fi adventure about a guy searching through his own mindscape for a fading memory. It takes visual and thematic cues from Tarkovsky’s Solaris and a polish sci-fi cult film called On the Silver Globe. I’ve attached a zip file with some screen shots from the rough cut to give you a better idea of the project.

Our deadline is fast approaching (February 14th) so work would have to begin soon. We’re operating on a less than micro budget – we have 300 USD allocated towards special effects. Despite these limitations everyone on the team is passionate about the project and we’re driven to create a fantastic piece of work. The video is slated to get a lot of exposure as the band releases their debut album in May- this is definitely a chance to get you’re work seen by a wide audience, be apart of something artistic and unique, and build a relationship with an up and coming team.

Let us know if you’re interested!

Best,
Alex + Joe
