MPC (The Moving Picture Company) leads the world in post production and visual effects for the Feature Film, Advertising, Digital and Television industries. With offices in London, LA, New York, Vancouver and Bangalore, technology is instrumental in allowing our highly talented artists to collaborate across timezones to create the exceptionally high quality effects that our clients expect.

Due to continued growth, we seek to appoint a Head Of Technology for our Vancouver studio which focuses on feature VFX work for our clients based on the west coast. This key role will report into the local business manager and work closely with the London-based technology management team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the needs of productions are met by MPC’s technology
• Work with Head Of Film and Head Of Production to oversee overall day to day operations and business strategy
• Capacity planning and management for technical resources
• Consult with production and creative staff to ensure best practices are followed
• Work with MPC technology management team to define and execute technical strategy
• Manage technical development projects, both for local business and for select global projects.
• Manage local facility services such as HVAC, electrical and construction projects.
• Overall management of the Data, Systems and Software teams, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery against production requirements
• Building and tracking technology budgets
• Manage technology purchasing to ensure on-time delivery within budget

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years experience of managing technical operations and development
• Strong knowledge of VFX and HPC technologies.
• Proven track record of successfully managing software development projects
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
• Highly structured and organised approach to managing a diverse range of tasks
• Ability to earn the respect and trust of production and technology people alike.
