my means are pretty limited and i’m wondering whether anyone has any suggestions on the most effective way of approaching this shot. i did think of throwing in an object into the shot, such as a computer screen to briefly obscure the chair, giving the actor time to jump into the shot, but i’d rather have the actor literally dissolve into the empty chair.
is there any way of achieving this without using an electronic dolly? or should i basically try to wing dolly speed / direction in two shots and hope that it matches, and then perhaps try to touch it up in post?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Keying out clear items
Posted in: Beginners TalkI’m going to be working on a project where I have have a scientist on gs. He will be in front of some Beakers, however I’m trying to figure out that when I go to key my GS it will key the beakers to, thus eliminating the caustic type effect when he looks through it or something is in there, what do you guys recommend of a to work around this, so that it still gives the same effect.
Thanks

Does c4d work with fusion?
Posted in: Beginners Talki have big trouble with maya fur in conjunction with frischluft lenscare.
The zdepth looks well for me, but frischluft lenscare cuts away all my furdetails.
If i look to the sharp zone under the lenscare tool, then i get i realy crispy 8bit like result. It looks like lenscare can´t go enough into the details.
Is there a solution for this problem?
maybe it´s a generally problem, because on the sharp areas on my picture i get hard crispy an inside cutted edges..
oh….and i use Fusion for comp…
Rendering issue
Posted in: Beginners TalkI’d apreciate some answer to this usuall thing…
I’ve got a problem when I want to render an object in my scene (in 3dsMax) with its lighting and shadows correctly rendered but only this one displayed, just to win many render time.
For example: I’ve got a room with many things inside, and the time it take to render it’s quite high, and what I really want is the top part of the room, (the roof I mean). I wnat to comp it later.
It would be the same as if I wanted to render a chair inside this room without with the light affecting correctly as the rest of the room to comp it later.
I tried to make the rest of the objects unvisible to camera, to make them matte, to set them vrayalpha -1, but this is not what I want.
Thanks a lot guys…

Located in Massachusetts?
Posted in: Beginners TalkI’m a newbie in the VFX realm, I just graduated from CDIA(www.cdiabu.com) and learned modeling, texturing and all that other good stuff. We never really covered vfx tho, and then I came across it and fell in love.
I am currently at SIGGRAPH and after being surrounded by so many likeminded people, I didn’t want it to end.
So, I want to start a vfx group in Boston that can meet regularly to discuss anything and everything. I have scoured the Internet for something like this in Boston and can’t find it. Please let me know if you’re interested, or even better, if this kind of group DOES exist.
I want to have newbies and professionals networking and helping each out.
Look forward to hearing from you
