I been looking around for an online school to learn VFX, and i came across many good online schools.
Now I can’t seem to decide which one to choose, i have shortlisted few softwares which i would like to learn –

• Photoshop.

• Adobe After Effects.

• Cinema 4D

• Nuke.

• PF Track.

• Adobe Premiere.

• FCP.

• Maya (Dynamics/Particles).

Any first hand experience will be highly appreciated.

hey guy’s i am new here nice to meet u all vfx pro’s 😀 and i have finish my full animation course and now i am doing demo and when i was searching for how to do vfx demo i saw this site vfxtalk and i saw that all r getting super tips from pros and i tot that to take help from here so plzzzzzzzz help me guy’s i want to do an vfx demo of matte painting i am not getting what to do in that and i don’t have any references and don’t know what to do in demo i am so confused from 1 month what to do in demo so plzzzzz help me guy’s 🙁

This is my first thread on VfxTalk, happy to join this website. I am planning for higher studies in Vfx in Vancouver, most probably at Vanarts. there only 4 questions they are as follows :

1) Vanarts is a good institute as I have read on various blogs even the vfx course also upto my needs and Faculty is also experienced… but there are some negative remarks on various blogs too…. so now m bit confused, which Institute is best in Vancouver for vfx course?
Please give me your valuable advice as I am going to invest my entire earnings for this course and my father is also investing his earning in the same. So please guide me through this….

2) After completing the course from reputed institute in Vancouver, can I get job over there. (I can understand that its based on my efforts and as well as demo reel) but will there b plenty of opportunities in this field?
(As change in Canadian Visa policy I will be getting One Year Work Permit in Canada After completing the course successfully. So how much I can earn in a year’s period?)

3) Current Salary for entry level / junior vfx artist, even for the post of Junior Editor cum compositor.

4) Growth of vfx industry in Asia (BOLLYWOOD)

1) Art Director cum Concept Visualizer
(Designed and actually produced various
set)
2) Editor (participated in American Cinema
Editors Student Competition)
3) Director
4) command over After Effects, FCP,
Premiere, Mocha, Maya, Photoshop,
Illustrator, and some Mechanical Stuff as
its part of Mechanical Movement in sets.
knowledge of JAVA for After Effects
Expressions.
4) Last but not the least A REALLY VERY
HARDWORKING guy.

Hi,
I’m having an issue with my exported maya file from MatchMover2011. The tracking in MM seems solid, but when i open up the exported file in Maya ( 2011 as well) the tracking points are not matching up with the background plate correctly. The best way i could describe it is that the camera is pushed way in so the points are not matching in proper 3d space.
The footage is just 5 seconds on a bench outside. Could the issue be the frame rate / interlace options? Would that impact the exported file? I’m a student with some ideas for class and thought I’d starting playing around with matchmoving
Any idea on where to start? Or maybe some ideas on where to get good troubleshooting tips for MM2011, the help files are not that great when it comes to troubleshooting.

I’m just wondering what software do the big movie films use? I’m fairly new and I would like to know. I’m 22 years of age and would like to know what software is used in the industry so that I can ready myself with the right skills. Thanks:)
