How to create a cold air effect?

Hi there,

I am currently working on a shot with a fridge in it. The fridge opens up and there has to come some smoke out of it to simulate the cold.

I am close to the deadline and have not realy an idea how to do this a quick and an easy way.

Are there some tutorials for this? Or can you guys maybe help me out with this?

Thanks a lot already!

Later,
Maarten

Footage looks brighter in AE

I have a quicktime (animation) which I’m simply converting to a .png sequence (8 bit, no compression, default color space) in Nuke.

When I bring the .png sequence and the original quicktime into AE, the .png sequence is brighter.

Help?

Turn picture into tile based animation /mosaics

Now this is what I want to do: I want to turn a picture into say 8X8 squares (horizontally and vertically) and I want each square to rotate on its own. How would I pull this off?

PERSONALLY I would just cut my picture into those pieces (that could be a lot of work) and then make each one a 3d layer and spin each one around that way.

NOW the problem is my method might be a lot of work and I need to be able to replace the picture with ANY picture which wouldn’t work with my method it seems.

Got any idea?

I’m already toying around with the Shatter tool but I’ve no idea how to make parts spin around that way on their own. This also might be a completly wrong way and you might have a better idea.

Averaging all or every n’th frame in comp

Hi,

I would like to create new layer with one still made as average of pixel value for all comp.
I guess there could be script to do this or maybe someone knows very similar script I could use for the purpose.

so, if there would be only 10 frames, it would take the intensity of all pixels, average all of (1,1) pixels in all 10 frames and use this RGB value for (1,1) pixel of this new still layer.

I can’t really imagine, who would ever need this kind of function, except me, but never know…. And I need to do it for comps with hundreds frames, ideally quite automatically.

Thanks!

Rendering problem in AE?

Hi everyone…whenever I render my work out from AE, the colour changes to be brighter and more desaturated. Is there a reason for this?

Light effect in titles

Hello everyone,
i´m having some difficulties in recreating the effect we can see in the pics.
I´m using trapcode shine and the result is good but i´m not been able to recreate it.
Can someone give me a hint? Is it with masks?
Thanks
Cheers

New “Solid Duration” Script

Hey all,

Just posted up a new script called Solid Duration. For all of you that have been wanting to simplify creating a simple solid that will be used for a backdrop. Link is below image.

FEATURES:

– Dockable (or can be run from the scripts menu as a floating window)
– Can select multiple layers to apply workflow to.
– Custom color for every solid created
– Places new solid directly underneath selected video layer
– Trims the in and out points to match selected video layer
– Names new solid the same as video layer plus the word “Backdrop”

What it DOES NOT do right now:
– Let you type a custom name
– Fit the video layer size (always same size as comp)
– Make your coffee
– Solve the worlds problems

Hope it comes in handy for you.

After FX treats Alpha Differently?

Hi, all. Hope you guys out there can help me out about this problem. Wether it’s just the way I comp it wrong or it’s just AE treats Alpha differently?

Most of the time I use Fusion to comp my animation works. Everytime I layer an image with alpha channel fresh from 3D package, Fusion got no problem to layer them out without me having to clean up the alpha.

But since I moved to new studio and they only use AE. I have to adapt. The problem is every time I made separate comps and one of them got alpha channel. After I layer them together, I still need to apply matte choker or simple choker to clean up the outline caused by the alpha. But If I just layer them all together in single comp, there’s no problem at all.

So can you guys help me out about this and probably got other methods to share on how to optimize things up…

Thanks…

cheers 🙂
