from the industries point of view?

Their are a few positions open here for game developers, I have applied for the positions, sent my demo reel, had a professional company do my resume and cover letter, have all the requirements that they ask for.
pretty much follow their rules as far as what they are asking for to fill these open positions.

A couple of weeks go by the positions are re-posted with the same information as before. I know that different companies are going to do different things as far as hiring procedures go but how does this work?

Now, I have heard that for every position posted there are about a hundred people applying for them so they have to filter out between the qualified, the ones with degrees, and ones without any demo reels to show. (which I was told you won’t even get a conversation started without one)

another thing I was told was that if they get so jam packed with resumes that they eventually just wipe them all out and start a new but all of which post “no relocation package will be assissted “which helps me living in the city a lot.

I am constantly posting my reel here and other places to get feedback and comments. (not to toot my own horn or anything)
compared to a lot of other post on google, youtube and vimeo I think it looks really good.

somebody that reads this must work for a company or has worked for a company and has to know how the hiring and the whole process goes.
