Let me first introduce myself : i’m a French Avid/FCP editor and 2 years ago i’ve widened my skills with a 2-month training program at the Gobelins school in Paris focused on video SFX and especially a complete After Effects study.
Now i’d like to learn how to use a Flame or a Smoke as i feel i’m more comfortable in VFX than in pure editing, and as an occasionnal Post Producer I’ve worked many times with Flame and Smoke artists.
The thing is, there’s only one place Iv’e found here in Paris where they propose a 3-day "high intensive training" which is very expensive and seems too short to me.
So please tell me what you think about all this, if you think one can learn how to work with a Flame this way, or if one needs to first work as an assistant? and if you know good places to learn these systems, even outside France or outside Europe, all info would be of great interest!
