Urgently need help with fireball for Roman Film

Hi All

We had a briiliant artist onboard who provided these demo fireballs for our film but we can no longer get in touch with him despite multiple attempts.

Can anyone help us out with elements as good as these or at least point us in the right direction? We’ve looked at stock but none are fireballs as opposed to explosions.

Cheers

PLEASE HELP – Sci Fi Short Needs VFX

Alphanumerica

Summary: In a future where technology has become an all encompassing distraction, a vagabond attempts to save the lives of ignorant commuters from a terrorist who wants to give them a rude awakening.

==============================================

I am currently in pre-production on a sci-fi short entitled “AlphanumericA”, an advanced student sci-fi short from the University of Utah.
The story revolves around a young man who must foil a terrorist plot to blow up a train station. It is set in the near future. I am planning on shooting in HD on my Canon 7d and the whole film will most likely be shot in black and white.

For this short I will need a few very quick and (what I imagine to be) relatively simple visual effects (I’m of the opinion that less is more). The two effects I need:

-A quick shot of a train exploding (most likely an extreme long shot)

-A few POV shots (possibly only one) with graphic overlays of a HUD type device (think Terminator meets iPod Heads Up Display)

I cannot afford to pay much as I am but a humble film student, but I’m sure this film will make a great addition to your demo reel while hopefully
providing an interesting and enjoyable challenge.

I intend to submit this film to multiple film festivals as well as enter it into filmmaking contests; both great ways for you to gain exposure.

Please send an e-mail to: alphanumericamovie@gmail.com if you have any interest at all. Thanks so much for taking the time!

Sci-fi short starring Brian Blessed

Hi everyone,

I hope you might be interested in my short film ‘Mr. Bojagi’ starring Brian Blessed (Flash Gordon / so much more!) and Hildegard Neil (Anthony and Cleopatra).

The film is online in full from today for a limited run on Dailymotion.

With a tiny budget and no outside support/backing, it was very much a job where we had to think laterally to rise above our meagre resources.

We shot DVCPro HD and cut in FCP. Effects were everything from simple Trapcode Shine stuff in AE to some reasonably complex tracking in Bijou.

We hope we’ve managed to create effects that blend nicely with an ambitious and detailed set build – and keep with the retro / steampunk feel of the film.

If you have 10 minutes spare the film – as well as several ‘making of’ features – is at www.dailymotion.com/mrbojagi

Many thanks in advance,

Marco van Belle

Scifi/drama shot on RED needs some help

Hey everyone!

We’re deep in post-production on a short scifi/drama about a woman from another planet crash landing into a lonely land owner’s forest.

It was shot on RED and we’re working with 2K DPX files. The movie will be mixed in 5.1 at the London National Film & Television School. It’s a low-budget project, no-pay for everyone involved, but the post team (11 active crew members at the moment!) is amazing and we only expect whatever time and energy you think you can give to the project. Once finished, the movie will be sent out to a number of festivals and promoted intensely online.

Two vfx artists with some experience in features are working hard to get everything done for the deadline on 6.6. but it’s become clear they will need some additional help. It would be mostly compositing work, removing tracker marks and some animating depending on what you think you could tackle of course. There’d be someone there to work with you from beginning through to end on each shot.

What will you get?
1) To collaborate with some pretty bright filmmaking talent, mostly from Finland.
2) Practical experience with high-quality footage.
3) A copy of the film and a premiere invitation if you can make it to Helsinki.

We don’t care about age, experience, location or if you can guarantee succeeding as long as you’re up for trying your best. If anyone’s interested, we need your help right now in May so get in touch asap: jesse.jokela@gmail.com

Thanks!

DECISIVE MOMENTS

“Decisive moments” is a short film of the student Vitor Teixeira in the specialization of Computer Animation, Master degree in Som e Imagem of the Escola das Artes. This animation is based on the visual aesthetics that call for meticulous observation of forms of beauty manifested in our day to day. Their non-verbal narrative, no plot and absent of any actor or argument, consists of a series of fleeting images of nature, water and fire, in a unique perspective, photographically appealing to many defining moments, where the clash occurs and the exhibition forms .

For reasons related with the University I can’t show my final video during some months. I’m still talking with them about it but it seams I don’t have all the rights on it. It was today the final presentation of an adventure that started in the last July. I just wanted to say that when I started in the last July I had never worked on fluids before. It has been an huge and fantastic adventure that ended in an amazing night for me. My dream is to work in the cinema, I really hope that I can get there some day but in this moment for now I just want to became a professional effects artist.

The software used in this work was Realflow, Maya fluids, Mental Ray, FumeFx, Particle flow, Nuke and After Effects.

I’ve uploaded some still frames of the video. Really hope you all like.
