Looking for new remote freelancers/collaborators

Hi

I own a small VFX/design company in NY and am currently looking for new remote freelancers to add to the roster, as well as those who would be willing to collaborate on 1 or 2 still shots immediately. My new company website is going up soon and I am building up the gallery, primarily with RenderMan as I have acquired the full RMS suite. I am primarily looking for modelers, and those who can not only build base meshes but are proficient in ZBrush or Mudbox with sculpting and texturing. Concept artists are welcome to provide us with some sketches/digi paint versions of what is floating around in our brains.

This collaboration would be unpaid, but any artists who help will get first dibs on projects that come in. My company is primarily subcontracted work for larger studios in NY and LA, and also directly for clients. They usually call us when they need something very complex that they can’t figure out how to do internally, so the work is challenging but usually fun. As an example, last year I had to create over 200,000 cereal flakes exploding out of a robot’s head for a Fruity Pebbles commercial. If anyone has kids or are cartoon junkies you’ve probably seen it playing for the last year on Cartoon Network. We also work on films when we’re called in, though commercials and promo videos come up more frequently.

For this current collaboration, I am not asking anyone to spend too much time. I figure most models could be whipped up in 1-4 days for an experienced modeler. We do photo-real stuff so these would be high poly sculpts on low res base meshes. Some models can be primarily base meshes or minor sculpts with procedurals added in RenderMan to augment. Textures are welcome but I can create them by hand or procedurally if time is short. We are aiming for simple environments, props, and simple characters. Quality above quantity.

I hope some of you would be willing to assist. I have a personal contact in LA who is going to be pushing my business to a large vendor pool of a huge company out there and getting a few more nice examples to show should really help get in bigger jobs and guarantee work for us and anyone who helps out. We also partner with other small companies on gigs so this is not just for individuals.

If you are interested please PM me or email me with your info, examples of work, and any questions to employment@offtherackpro.com I can send examples of work we have done since our site is offline while in development.

Thanks

3 FX shots needed by Thursday 27th Jan ($1,500)

Summary: 3 fx shots needed by Thursday 27th for new psychological horror: Don’t Let Him In (www.DontLetHimIn.com).

Budget: $1,500
Skills: Maya, Shake, After FX or your own packages
Contact: kelly.coldwood@gmail.com

Don’t Let Him In is a British psychological horror film due to be completed Feb 2011. You can see more details here:
http://www.DontLetHimIn.com
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1400515/

We’re in the last few days of post production and still need 3 shots finished using Maya/Shake and After FX. We have a previous FX artist who has done most of the work, so it’s just a case of finishing off what he did and compositing with 2k plates.

There are two possible routes as I see it: Either a) take Shake/Maya project files (half completed), render against 2k plates and output to dpx or b) do again yourself.

We already have a sales agent in place so this movie will be distributed. See www.DontLetHimIn.com for a trailer.

This is a chance for a decent FX artist to get their work seen worldwide within a month or two and a great credit on IMDB.

Budget is $500/shot or $1,500 total. Email kelly.coldwood@gmail.com if interested asap.

Looking for VFX Supervisor

Looking for a VFX supervisor who can help achieve an effect similar to the one in this commercial:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpRnV…eature=channel

The shot needs to be approx. 1.5 seconds. While I am by no means a VFX expert, I have studied it quite a bit to get a better understanding form a directorial standpoint. My guess right now is that the shot I need will require 3d animation, compositing, and hopefully a match move, however the MM isn’t mandatory.

As this is a spec commercial, I obviously can’t pay much(approx $1000), and I hate to promise future work because the world just doesn’t work according to promises in our industry. However know this, I am looking for a collaborator and someone I will work with repeatedly on future projects.

A quick bit about me: I mainly work on docu reality series for the likes of Discovery Channel, TLC, and Travel. I am in the process of making the transition more into commercials and music videos.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Seeking 3D And Compositing Generalist For Web Series

I am currently budgeting for a low-budget web series pilot going into production this upcoming year. It is an urban fantasy, so the effects requirements are fairly interesting and quirky.

As each episode has different VFX requirements, I’ve decided to focus on each separately, but ideally would like to find someone to be my go-to artist for the series, with other artists brought on as needed.

As far as the specific needs of this particular episode, this is my closest estimation at the moment. If interested, we can discuss more via e-mail.

1) Window Backgrounds During Car Dialogue – A dialogue scene that takes place while driving. Still weighing whether to actually shoot this on the road or try to green screen the windows and comp in moving landscapes. Both represent certain challenges to production, but if we choose the latter, you would be responsible for the chroma-key and compositing.

2) Modeling And Rigging A Basic, Low-Poly Whale – I know this sounds unusual, but that’s kind of the point. Don’t think a high poly model is needed here, but appropriate texturing is, as well as compositing into the scene. The plate will be locked down for this particular effect, so advanced matchmoving probably won’t be needed, but an added bonus if you are able to handle movement.

3) Glowing Symbol In 2D – At one point, a character draws a symbol with a piece of chalk, and then it glows. You would be responsible for the look and execution of this effect.

Please e-mail kristopher@aureatefilms.com, and I will send you the current draft of the script so you can get a better idea of the requirements. In addition, if what you’ve read above just sounds ridiculous (i.e. I’m not asking for the right type of artists, etc.) please let me know. I can take the criticism, and this is something I should know moving on.

Once you’ve read the script, please respond with a quote for the work. I will be making decisions based on the numbers given to me via e-mail.

Open to students and beginners with solid demo reels as well.

Sincerely,
Kristopher
