I am currently budgeting for a low-budget web series pilot going into production this upcoming year. It is an urban fantasy, so the effects requirements are fairly interesting and quirky.
As each episode has different VFX requirements, I’ve decided to focus on each separately, but ideally would like to find someone to be my go-to artist for the series, with other artists brought on as needed.
As far as the specific needs of this particular episode, this is my closest estimation at the moment. If interested, we can discuss more via e-mail.
1) Window Backgrounds During Car Dialogue – A dialogue scene that takes place while driving. Still weighing whether to actually shoot this on the road or try to green screen the windows and comp in moving landscapes. Both represent certain challenges to production, but if we choose the latter, you would be responsible for the chroma-key and compositing.
2) Modeling And Rigging A Basic, Low-Poly Whale – I know this sounds unusual, but that’s kind of the point. Don’t think a high poly model is needed here, but appropriate texturing is, as well as compositing into the scene. The plate will be locked down for this particular effect, so advanced matchmoving probably won’t be needed, but an added bonus if you are able to handle movement.
3) Glowing Symbol In 2D – At one point, a character draws a symbol with a piece of chalk, and then it glows. You would be responsible for the look and execution of this effect.
Please e-mail kristopher@aureatefilms.com, and I will send you the current draft of the script so you can get a better idea of the requirements. In addition, if what you’ve read above just sounds ridiculous (i.e. I’m not asking for the right type of artists, etc.) please let me know. I can take the criticism, and this is something I should know moving on.
Once you’ve read the script, please respond with a quote for the work. I will be making decisions based on the numbers given to me via e-mail.
Open to students and beginners with solid demo reels as well.
Sincerely,
Kristopher
