Place this introduction video: Yes or No?

Hi,

We are almost releasing our Samurai Pizza Cats fan film. It will be released this week. There will be a website around it with a premium part on it for extras (2 dollars). We’ve made an introduction video of what you can expect on the premium page. But we’ve got a discussion going on here if we should place this on the site or not. We didn’t want it to be to serious. Some friends of us like it but they think it might give a wrong impression to people who don’t know us.

We would like to know your opinion about this. Should we place this video on the site or not? There is no time for creating a new one.

The video can be seen here: http://vimeo.com/17466266 pass: pizza

Thanks,
Maarten

Greenscreen shoot question

I have a green screen shoot on Saturday. I would like to know does it matter what colour tracking markers I use. I planning to use blue tracking markers on the greenscreen.

Secondly, one of the characters has a couple of glowing singe marks after his shirt has been burnt. Can I apply green or blue tracking markers to points on the black shirt where it has been burnt so the effect can be applied in post.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Digital Domain Holdings acquires In-Three

Digital Domain Holdings acquires In-Three
Nov 19, 2010
Digital Domain Holdings reached an agreement to acquire 3D stereo studio In-Three, Inc., developer of the Dimensionalization® process that converts 2D films into high quality, 3D stereo imagery.

Digital Domain Holdings CEO John Textor said, "In-Three has been a pioneer in the research and development of stereoscopic technology. This partnership adds large-scale production to In-Three’s world-class technology, while creating new jobs in the state of Florida."

Digital Domain studios in California and Vancouver recently completed production on Walt Disney Studios’ TRON: Legacy, which was generated and produced in stereoscopic 3D. In-Three completed 3D stereo work on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

The In-Three team will be based out of Digital Domain Holdings’ headquarters in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Safety at the screen

I know this is seen as a really dull subject… but it is very important and commonly overlooked. I have been on a course for 2 years now (spending most of my time starring at the screen) and the effects are starting to take their toll!
I would really appreciate any insight into realistic health & safety practices which occur in the workplace… I can’t imagine everyone has a rest every 30mins?!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers

Asylum VFX Is Closing

Quote:

After 11 years it appears that Asylum Visual Effects in Santa Monica is closing. Nathan McGuinness built a shop that had a strong reputation providing high end visual effects for films like Master & Commander, Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Terminator Salvation (IMDB) as well as commercials like the recently released Call of Duty Black Ops spot.

Phones across Los Angeles were buzzing today with reports of a company meeting where everyone was let go, and in this socially connected world Twitter and Facebook exploded with the gossip including mentions of filing Chapter 11 and closing their doors immediately. Director Fred Ramondi reacted to the news: “Good People. Great Work. Very sad. I did my last 4 spots there as a director. They treated me great. The work was stellar. A lot of talent there.” adding “Nathan: You had a dream and had the balls to make it happen. You’re the man.” We have reached out to Asylum for comment and will update if we get further details.
