Duties and Responsibilities:
· Create effects for assigned shots using Realflow and Maya, ensuring continuity and flow within and between shots and sequences
· Work with Lead Effects Artist to ensure that all individually assigned Effects deliverables are completed fully and in line with production schedule and Director’s overall vision
· Attend Effects reviews for assigned sequences
· Troubleshoot and debug shot problems and escalate technical issues as required
· Maintain a convention of file naming structures for all shots that is compatible within the Starz Animation production pipeline
· Remain current and up-to-date in effects techniques through industry research and training
· Perform additional duties as required

Skills and Experience:
· 3+ years CG visual effects experience in a Maya production environment
· Feature film experience an asset
· Completed post-secondary education classical or 3D animation, art fundamentals, or other relevant area of study
· Good working knowledge of Realflow, Maya FX tools and Houdini
· Experience with Maya particles/dynamics and particle expressions
· Background in traditional art an asset
· Basic understanding of animation styles and techniques and the animation production pipeline as a whole
· Good creative and technical problem solving skills
· Ability to learn quickly and comprehend custom in-house production tools
· Ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and perform to standard in a fast-paced environment
· Experience with Realflow and Maya Fluids as well as some knowledge of the development and design of FX water

Requirements:

MPC Vancouver: Modelling TD

Position Summary:

Candidates should be willing to consider their task part of the creative process, not only a matter of duplicating scans or drawings. Often designs must change in the modelling/rigging phase. So a design and/or sculpting background would be ideal but not essential. Some technical proficiency with building models for deformations (like blendshapes, deformers and muscle/skin simulators) is a must. Solid production experience required.

We are looking for a seasoned VFX Coordinator who can efficiently manage and organize current projects and artists’ time, while being able to communicate directly with clients in a highly professional manner. The VFX Coordinator is responsible for the management and distribution of information during projects, as well as maintaining a smooth workflow with our satellite office in Michigan when applicable.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Senior FXTD Artist – MPC London

Summary:
FX Technical Directors gather a variety of 3D assets produced by our Layout and Animation departments and use our cutting-edge proprietary toolset to create particle, rigid body, fluid, cloth, fur and hair simulations. Once approved, these are cached to disk. We then either apply lights and shaders using our in-house lighting toolkit to produce the final rendered image, or release the caches back into the pipeline to be lit and rendered by members of our Lighting department.

Primary responsibilities:
• Develops innovative, believable and beautiful solutions to challenging and complex problems.
• Uses an array of commercial and proprietary software tools to produce photorealistic simulations of real-world phenomena.
• Produces test and often final renders of FX elements for a shot.
• Creates working test composites for review by the supervision team.
• Works in partnership with lighters & compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard.

Experience and skills:
• Proven experience in feature, commercials or broadcast visual effects production (or plenty of raw talent if you’re a recent graduate), with a showreel to back this up. Experience in live action FX work preferred.
• Thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to physical simulation in computer graphics.
• Good understanding of the entire visual effects process: shooting, layout, matchmoving, modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, FX, lighting and compositing.
• A basic understanding of physics: newtonian mechanics is the bread and butter of FX work.
• An eye for visual effects work: the ability to analyse an image and determine what needs to be done to improve it, in terms of both aesthetics and believability. The ability to blend art and science in the pursuit of superlative visual effects.
• The ability to think clearly and creatively under pressure.
• Good proficiency with Autodesk Maya, our primary 3D package.
• Strong scripting skills, in MEL, Python or preferably both. C/C++ programming and shell scripting abilities are also valuable.

Compositing Supervisor

This role collaborates with the Art Director and the VFX Supervisor to influence the aesthetic and technical “look” of the composited shots and promotes the success of team members and general morale within the studio. This is a 5-6 month contract position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work with the Compositing APM to help create schedules
· Work with the Department Head to create staffing models
· Work with the VFX Supervisor and Pipeline Supervisor to design efficient workflows and build upon and enhance existing Compositing tools and pipeline when required
· Assist Compositing Leads in the resolution of technical issues
· Troubleshoot and debug shot problems
· Escalate technical issues as required
· Monitor overall progress within Compositing department
· Collaborate with members of other departments as necessary to ensure proper completion of shots and to ensure a smooth production
· Remain current and up-to-date in lighting techniques through industry research and training
