FX Supervisor – Method Studios- LA

• Supervise the FX team and mentor artists to ensure the creation of high quality FX.
• Responsible for directing the overall FX quality in shots and conducting rounds to determine which shots are ready to show to Director.
• Conduct script breakdowns for FX and develop appropriate schedules to work with available resources and to prioritize tasks.
• Work with CG Supervisor to determine which technology will be required to meet the needs of the FX department.
•• Collaborate with other departments and supervisors to resolve technical problems.
• Proactively communicate any information about FX to other departments as necessary.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of particle systems and fluid dynamics in Maya and/or Houdini.
• Expertise in compositing theory, concepts, and techniques. Nuke experience a plus.
• Knowledge of surfacing, modeling, lighting, and rendering in CG.
• 6+ years of production experience with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role on a feature film.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills.

Senior Texture Artist

A Toronto based VFX studio is looking for a Senior Digital Texture Artist to join there team.

With an emphasis on the aesthetics and techniques of photo-realistic effects, the texture artist will be responsible for creating photo-real texture and relevant maps. These will be rendered using established industry tested rendered software and proprietary renderers.

A strong understanding of real world materials is essential and must be demonstrated in the work on your reel.

Texture artists work closely with the modeling, shading and lighting artists. Therefore a thorough knowledge of each discipline must be demonstrated.

As a texture artist you must:

. be able to perform rough composites of your assets in Nuke
. have the ability to demonstrate proficiency in creating photo-realistic textures
. help establish suitable working techniques for the members of your team
. work in conjunction with the production team (producer, VFX Supervisor,
CG supervisor) to establish schedules and technical requirements
. work in partnership with lighters and compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard
