Summary of the Role

The Matchmove Artist is responsible for reproducing the geometry, camera movement and object movement of a live action shot in a 3D environment.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Tracking both camera and objects to match live-action footage in a 3D environment.
  • Maintaining consistent shot quality.
  • Working with the Art Lead to define any specific matchmove tools required and identify any additions or modifications to our existing toolset.

Qualifications:

  • Proven Matchmove experience (2-5 years) in a large feature-film VFX production environment.
  • Must be proficient in Boujou. Experience with Maya and Silhouette is an asset.
  • Knowlege of Nuke and tracking in Nuke is an advantage.
  • Must be able to model and manipulate geometry for scene reconstruction and to aid tracking.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a good eye for detail and precision with strong problem-solving skill.
  • Must have a solid understanding of camera moves and filming techniques.

Job summary:
Reporting to the project’s Visual Effects Producer, the On-Set VFX Supervisor will be responsible for the creative and technical planning and execution of on-set VFX work on any given project.

Job duties and responsibilities:
• Participate in pre-through-post production calls and meetings with the VFX Producer and Client to plan and execute the project’s VFX in the most efficient way possible.
• Supervise all visual effects during production. Provide guidance to the director, DP, and/or crew as need to minimize difficulties in post and ensure the proper footage/elements are obtained to create high-caliber VFX.
• Supervisor should own and be prepared to operate their own 5D, 7D camera or similar and tripod on-set to acquire VFX reference images & elements as needed.
• Provide daily reports on the status of VFX production.
• Log any measurements, camera, lens data, etc. that may be needed for VFX.

Required Skills / Experience:
• Minimum 5 years Film/TV production experience.

An environment artist is required in the VFX department of a high profile Auckland based television series with international acclaim. Spartacus Season 2 has commenced production and urgently requires a matte painting/concept artist to start immediately.

The successful applicant will have at least 5 years of production experience in concept art and matte painting.

This position supports the VFX Art Director and requires the successful applicant to creatively contribute with look development and producing final matte paintings.

Main creative strength must be in photo-real environmental design (2D and 3D).

The pace of the work is fast turnaround and the successful applicant must be able to maintain consistency of quality while under pressure. The ability to work unsupervised is essential.
