The Job

We’re looking for a talented 3D Texture Artist who can:

·Create photorealistic textures from scratch and from existing material for mapping on to 3D geometry
·Set up and manage UVs for complex models
·Work with modelers to ensure optimal UV layout
·Work closely with shader/lighting artists towards producing the final look
·Work closely with the Visual Effects Supervisor to deliver shots to their specifications

Contract terms to be agreed according to experience.

Your Experience


·Minimum 2 years industry experience in TV or Film preferred creating textures for characters and environments. Graduates with strong reels will be considered for junior roles
·A good eye for detail, colour and composition
·Knowledge of camera mapping techniques
·Excellent experience and knowledge of Maya and Photoshop
·Matte Painting experience a plus
·Modeling and/or lighting experience a plus
·Zbrush or other 3D paint package experience a plus

FX TD
FX Technical Directors gather a variety of 3D assets produced by our Layout and Animation departments and use our cutting-edge proprietary toolset to create particle, rigid body, fluid, cloth, fur and hair simulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Uses an array of commercial and proprietary software tools to produce photorealistic simulations of real-world phenomena while developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Produces test and often final renders of FX elements for a shot.
  • Creates working test composites for review by the supervision team.
  • Works in partnership with lighters & compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in feature, commercials or broadcast visual effects production (or plenty of raw talent if you’re a recent graduate), with a showreel to back this up.
  • Experience in live action FX work preferred.
  • Good understanding of the entire visual effects process.
  • An eye for details, good sense of timing, and through understanding of techniques and technologies relating to physical simulation in computer graphics.
  • The ability to think clearly and creatively under pressure.
  • Good proficiency with Autodesk Maya, strong scripting skills in MEL, with Python, C/C++ programming and shell scripting a plus.
  • Knowledge of Pixar’s PRMan renderer preferred.
  • Familiarity with at least one node based compositing application (Shake and/or Nuke preferred), and a solid understanding of the compositing process.
  • Good computer skills, particularly with the UNIX/Linux command line.

Mid to Senior-level Nuke compositors needed for end of short film gig

I’m looking for mid to senior-level Nuke artists to finish a 12 minute short film for Lexus. The project delivers May 7th.

There are 2 main types of shots:
Practical car replacement with CG vehicle
Green screen work with an actor on a sound stage in a interior buck.

Requirements:
Understanding of multiple cleanplate techniques
Good eye for color and render pass manipulation
Strong chroma key experience.
Experience compositing cars preferred, but not necessary.

The work is all on site at the studio in Venice, CA.

Production Manager

Production Coordinator
Primary Responsibilities:
·Supporting the Producers and Supervisors in implementing project plans and meeting deadlines
·Assisting in both the creation and maintenance of show/department schedules
·Working with artists to implement scheduled deliveries and milestones, along with reporting back status of tasks and milestone targets
·Scheduling meetings and daily reviews, note taking and database management.
·Organizing reference materials and tracking incoming and outgoing deliveries to and from clients.

Skills/Experience:

·The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating on at least two significant projects of 80+ shots in an established VFX facility
·A solid understanding of CG production pipelines and post production in general is needed, though a willingness to learn and adapt would be greatly beneficial
·Excellent people skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment
·Strong project management skills and a sensitivity towards deadline related deliveries
