Mr. X Inc. is seeking a Tracker/Animator for upcoming feature film projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • 3D Camera tracking – recreating the movement of a stereo live-action camera in 3D, set extensions – ensuring 3d objects placed in a 3D virtual environment are accurately tracked,
  • Using the measurements and pictures of the live-action set, camera information, distortion grids, and scaling reference of characters and objects to recreate a virtual set in 3D,
  • Matchmoving rigid and non-rigid objects on moving elements in the plate,
  • Removing lens distortion from the plates to aid in the solving of tracks,
  • Creation of high standard animation in a variety of styles,
  • Engaging at every stage of production including generating original concepts and designs, research and development and pre-visualization of complicated sequences including camera work,
  • Producing 3D visual effects that far exceed client and audience expectations.
  • 3D modeling, texturing, animating, lighting, rendering as required,
  • Meeting production schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge and experience with Maya,
  • Thorough knowledge of PFTrack or 3Dequalizer (knowledge of Boujou a plus),
  • On set production experience is desirable,
  • Previous stereoscopic film production experience a plus,
  • Knowledge of a tracking software’s scripting language is desirable,
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a great eye for camera, blocking plus composition and must work well under pressure for potentially short turnaround deadines,
  • Able to take direction and feedback well from supervisor,
  • A minimum of 2 years of feature film experience required.

Senior Lecturer -Animation – University of Hertfordshire UK

The Digital Animation Programme of the University of Hertfordshire is looking for a new fulltime Senior Lecturer in Animation. If you are interested in teaching at one of the best animation courses in the UK we would like to hear from you.
We are looking for someone with several years of experience in VFX (film or commercials) preferably, but we will consider individuals from Games or other 3D animation areas. We would like to see knowledge of Maya, 3DSMax as a bonus, experience with compositing (Nuke, Fusion, After Effects), some MEL scripting would also be advantageous. You don’t need to be a character animator, but you should show a generalist knowledge of all (non character animation) aspects of VFX production. If you’ve ever trained staff to use software, that’s a useful skill to us.

This is a great opportunity for someone who fancies a career change and who enjoys working with students and helping them develop their skills while working on a course whose students have won many awards for their work.

CG Artists for Fantasy/Drama project

I’m currently seeking CG artists to help on a short I’m producing and directing. The film is a 10 minute fantasy/drama short called "The Cloud Designer". It’s about a man’s creative talent taking over his personal life, particularly his love, and his passion for the creative.

There are two VFX scenes, one of which is rather VFX intensive. I have acquired someone to take care of match moving and composition. I now need CG artists (particularly 3D modellers) to come on board and help build a luscious, perfect, dream world which we’ll be compositing behind a live action actor. Modelling and trees, some flowers, grass and clouds is called for.

The other scene is some rain and light effects that need adding. More details are in the script and I’m willing to answer any questions on here.

Unfortunately, the positions would be unpaid as I am making this film on zero budget and have had to rely on voluntary work and begging and borrowing everything to make it! I will, of course, rightly credit everyone involved and the scenes can be used for show reels and other self promotion.

Some shots include: parting of the sea, water forming into tunnels, the ground of the water tunnel turning into stone.
