Difference Premult Maya -Nuke

Hi guys,
i noticed that premult from maya and nuke are different and, for my ignorance, i don’t know why.
I explain.
Create a simple scene in maya
render it with premult on and after off, save images.
Now if you open the unpremult image in nuke and you try to connect it to a premult node, the result rgb isn’t equal to maya premult image. why?
the same, if ou try to unpremult from nuke the premult image from maya it dosn’t be equal to maya unpremult image.

can anyone explain this situation?

thanks a lot and sorry for my english

stereoscopic tracking in Nuke

Hi, I’ve heard stereo footages can be tracked and solved for in Nuke, I’ve tried this, by importing left and right footages> Join Views, camera tracker…
The problem here is, Im getting just a single camera solve, when I require the left and right cameras….

Denoise Methods?

Hi,
Will like to ask if anyone here have any creative ideas to Denoise a screen plate beside using the Furnace Degrain/Denoise. My purpose was to pulled a better Blue/Green screen key.

Thanks in advance for your sharing.

Cheers,

NukeX – needed?

Okay, so I read all about it, the effects are nice, camera track would be great but the price probably knocks it off the table, so I will probably stick to nuke regular…and get the camera tracker for AE instead.

I will mostly be comping 3d render passes, so is NukeX really needed anyway?

I’ll never get the bosses to cough up another couple of grand, so what am I missing?

displace texture with oflow vectors?

Can you take the generated vectors from furnace or oflow, and that motion to a different set of pixels or image. Hopefully making an image move around with the same motion the original footage had?

Here is a youtube vid of a similar effect.

rgb values to integer values conversion possibility..

there are almost 5 thread about topic (little variation) few are little helpful., but in true context, problem remains and exist, so i finally decided to ask and get this solved for myself and others here…

tools using (3dsmax / mental ray and nuke)

BIGGEST QUESTION:
1- is it possible to have ID’s pass as integer values but "antialiased" from 3d app
2- is it possible to convert RGB image to Interger values, in nuke.

CURRENT WORKFLOW:
in 3dsmax:
when rendering EXR, it gave me option to embed id’s inside exr, when i see details, it is called "mono" for encoding option, this is where HUGO gizmo works, except anti-aliasing option doesn’t help much..

if i enable render elements separately, then it created rgb image. it seems best "anti aliased" but HUGO gizmo doesn’t work here.
how can i convert my id’s (rgb) image to INTEGER values. inside nuke??

simple pointsto3D – failed to work

Hi, i made the simple scene . So i attached the scene (.nk), there you can see i just pipe in directly the original animated camera and the output image (scanlineRender) to pointsto3D to calculate, it calculates the movement of the camera correctly but the exact position is off quite significant. can anyone give me the right clue?

thanx

I would like to understand UV channels

I would like to understand UV channels in Nuke. I read the user guide, but i have doubts yet. What is the difference between UV coordinate and UV channels? I read Ron Brikmann too, but there isnt a good explanation about UVs.

Viewer stops updating when there is a missing frame

Hi Everyone,

I’ve run into this ‘problem’ today. I was wondering if there was anyway to keep viewer updating even if there is a missing frame. Currently it just shows an error message and doesn’t update. It just holds on the last frame it found a file for.

It’s a pretty big comp but it’s not done rendering yet and I’m just trying to put everything together. It gets hard when you can’t really see anything because two or three read nodes are missing frames across the whole framerange.

I asked a few nuke guys in the studio and they didn’t seem to think it was an issue (and they might be right). I haven’t been using nuke for long so I tried doing some searches and looked through the manual but I couldn’t find an answer.

If that wasn’t clear enough, I mean how in After Effects it just shows color bars during a missing frame, but continues to update the viewer with the frames that are there.

Thanks
