Match move & nuke

Hi,
I am drawing a blank when it comes to match moving this scene:

it’s about 10 seconds into the video. He is standing on the ledge and a the cam is doing a fly over to expose the ground.

Now,
I’m guessing that they used a crane over head on a green screen
and match moved it. Then added a 3d scene to it.

But my question is this:
How would you do this shot and use BOTH live action shots WITHOUT a motion control camera?

For example,

What would be the best way to composite this if you have footage of the roof looking down & a green screen fly over? I know nuke has that 3d composite thingy going for them but I never tried it. 🙂

normal Map for relighting

Hey guys quick thing..

so I was working on a project with other people … and they were render they normal maps (Object world) for relighting purposes as a .png 8 bit ? and I said that is wrong it should 32 bit and .exr well they still used png 8 bit. When I do relighting I always use 32 bits exr (I use Nuke btw they were using AE)…. I was wondering if any of you guys have used 8 bits png for relighting? and what are you thoughts about it ..

Thank you ….

compensating tracking on nuke

I 2d tracked a simple shot to add a new moon on it, thing is i didn’t have anything that was far enough to track so when i link the tracking data to my moon it moves like it was 20 feet away from the camera.

Is there a way/expression/node to compensate for that? i tought about using 3d cards but i don’t know if that will work with a 3d track, any ideias?

Edge problems when keying – need help

I’m working with some green screen footage at the moment and I’ve managed to get what looks like a decent key when working with the still image, but evidently is not when I play the sequence. The problem is that every keying technique I try, produces a slightly jagged, pixelated edge (mainly around the guys head – see pic) which can be fixed with an edge blur and erode. This looks fine in the still image but when played as a sequence the edges kinda ‘crawl’ as the pixels move… can anyone help with this??

python – collapse to group

Hi, i’m trying to use python collapseToGroup(), problem is : it will always ask me what node to be the output. Is it possible to attach the node’s name ( to be the output) inside the script? so i can call that function altogether with the node’s name, so it wont’ pop up the dialog box. In the doc, the collapseToGroup() only can pass ‘show’ param/var. Any idea ???

Thanx

activate paint brush from gizmo

Hi , i create a gizmo, the content are the rotopaint node and others. I want to be able to paint when calling this gizmo. It seems i can’t paint without revealing the toolbox param of the rotopaint. So i do manage knob and pick the toolbox. The problem i don’t want user to change this toolbox ( I don’t wan’t to expose this toolbox to user actually but there’s no way. If i hide it , i can’t paint) . So i decide to ‘disable’ it. Now i got another problem: when it’s disabled , calling the gizmo won’t activate the brush automatically so i can’t paint. By default the toolbox will reset to ‘select’ mode. I tried to set the default using addonusercreate() set toolbox value to ’14’ which is the value for ‘brush’ mode. But i has no effect, i still got ‘select’ mode (even the brush icon has been highlighted in the toolbox knob). The only way out is i have to make it back to be ‘enabled’ and when calling the gizmo , first i still have to click once on the ‘brush’ in the toolbox just to make it active.

Anyone got any solution?

Thanx a lot.

Lens fare in Stereoscopic shot

I want to do this small 3d shot in the upcoming days and want advice on how do add lensfare on a all 3D stereoscopic shot.

the shot in question has a camera rotating around a 3d scene. and i want to add a lensfare to the sun which gets occluded by the 3d talent.

ive heard that adding flares in a stereoscopic shot is complicated. pls share advice or personal experience.

thanks again..

Wierd colour contamination on edges

Hey guys, As part of my Uni project i am rendering out from Houdini and have just brought in the image sequence into Nuke and noticed some odd colouring happening around some of the edges. If you could take a look at the attached imaged and if you think of anything i can use within Nuke to remove this id be very thankful

Ideally i don’t want to re render as it took me a while…
