Creating a “group” knob with Python

Hi, guys!
I promise I’ve searched all the documentation I have and I have no clue on how to solve this. What I want to achieve is to add a "group" knob to a Group, that is one of thos kbos with an arrow that you can expand or contract.
I’ve created some of them manually and analysed the class and it seems it’s a "Tab_Knob" but when I use that what I get is a tab, not a group within the tab.

Painting cloth

I am on a project where I cut out the hand of the hero and replace.

His hand was wrapped in green, so keying it wasn’t hard at all- I was able to fill in parts that weren’t as hard as I expected, but now his hand passes infront of a moving cape.

My question: what is the best paint/cover up method to fill in the void of where his hand is infront of his cape? I have tried painting, but every frame is different and it makes the cape appear to "pop" because of the different strokes.

I really wish there was a clean plate shot during production…. :-\

3D tracker

I know its possible to track a mask in the 3D tracker camera
but how is it done? If it is done, am i able to attach a card to this tracker, and does it follow its movement in z space? For instance, if i have a guy walking out of camera, as the camer pans, so the guy is moving a way from the camera, am i able to tracker him in 3d space.? i really am not sure if i explaned this right.:happydevi

huekeyer node?

what role does the saturation threshold curve of the huekeyer node?

addmix?

addmix node multipy each selected channels of A image with A curve, and then multipy each selected channels of B image with B curve, and then add the two results. what situation is the addmix node used? I think that the matte edge’s opacity of A image’ matte is adjusted as A curve is adjusted. but What happen when B curve is adjusted?

just my request :-)

i used to work with shake/flame and while i’m moving to Nuke , i’m experiencing a lot of thing. In some area Nuke is better, but sometime still i found the discontinued-shake is still doing a great job. So i just want to share what to be my request.

Here’s some problem i found or being my request 😀

3d:
– Rotate cam lock: while locking the camera , i cannot rotate in viewer interactively. Most of 3d app can do this 😀 why can’t Nuke ? i know nuke is not 3d app, but this just my request.
– 3d particle ( still long way to go ?? i’ll be patient), fusion particle is cool, apple-motion particle is awesome.

color correct:
– i want to see better and more interactiive UI for grading/colorcorrection : color correct with 3 ball UI like in other app (like color warper in flame or other software based color colrrection). Grade node is great tool, but with better UI it will be awesome .. slider is the last option :D.

rotopaint:
– freehand style rotopaint like i found in adobe illustrator (one curve per frame, as you don’t have to maintain the same amount of control point)
– fill color : i want to be able to fill color like photoshop does (doesn’t have to be raster, i once see vector can do this like in retas pro- software for cartoon animation)
– roto stickiness behaviour (again like illustrator :D) : so spline can snap.
– option for auto tangent adjustment (like in shake) : while moving control point , the adjacent control point is auto adjusting its tangent respectively.
– animation paint (like autopaint in flame or interpolation in shake)
– why can’t i set parameter before doing roto/painting

tracking:
– instant stop when tracking. Usually while tracking i have to press ‘cancel’ button to stop the tracking process. What if simple click the interface (like shake/flame) just to stop. Sometime the dialog box for canceling is not quite responsive.

misc:
– slow response while try stopping/canceling the fx process in node graph (shake is faster in this case)
– i like the transform gizmo like shake (that has bounding box so i can scaling just one side only)
– i love to see a beautifull timeline 😀

render/flipbook
– Dropdown menu frame range : i have to type manually to input frame range … what about drop down menu, at least i have option for input/global selection like in the viewer window. Sorry i’m too lazy :D.
– Pause: i want to be able to pause the render process and playback it while being paused, then continue the render from where it stoped.
– preview window: i like to have an option for a preview window while rendering, so i can see the error immadiately without having to wait the whole rendering process is finished. (i like shake flipbook, simple and fast). Also as i usually work with shake flipbook, the nuke flipbook player is separated, so takes time to load that player.

setting:
– FPS dropdown menu?? this is wierd, Nuke doesn’t have fps dropdown menu in setting (s). Am i too lazy again?
– Frame Range like fusion : where i can drag drop the clip to the player to copy the source (clip) frame range.

gizmo:
– auto upper case when picking parameter : example picking from grade node, grabing the blackpoint will use ‘blackpoint’ as default name/label. so name will be ‘blackpoint’ and lable should be ‘Blackpoint’ – with uppercase B. Just my request 😀 …. again i’m too lazy.

I’m using version 6.0, i don’t know if some of this stuff has been available in 6.1 ? anyway i haven’t use Nuke a lot, for a newbie this is what i experience so maybe some feature is already there but i haven’t found it.

Stereoscopic camera setup

I will like to know if theres any specific setting for the camera setup for a Stereoscopic shot.

I have setup the scene with 3 camera setup, Namely LEFT, MIDDLE and RIGHT. Togather with an Anaglyph node. How far apart should I offset the LEFT camera to the RIGHT camera? Do i have to rotate both LEFT and RIGHT camera into a converge point?

Pls advice.

exporting nuke camera to Houdini

Hi,

I am trying to import nuke’s camera track and point cloud information to Houdini. For some reason the write geo node does not seem to work also is there any other way to export camera out of nuke ?

Viewer settings?

Perhaps a huuuuge noob question

Im following along in a tut on projection, and the tut author hits a hotkey and pulls up the viewer settings menu…(see attached). Hes using 5.1 and Im using 6x. Maybe thats where the problem is…cuz I cannot find this menu. I double clicked the viewer node….nothing in the properties bin, I looked upl in the menus…cant find it…consulted the manual….nothin.

I started learning on Nuke 5.1, and I was very beginner at best, but my company bought 6x and it seems much has changed…

Help?
