I want the shadows to falloff by distance from the casting geo to the receiving geo as they would in a raytracer with an area light.
I have included a scene for perusal, I’m guessing any solution would involve some sort of python which is ok by me but i am not sure where to start.
maybe something using pythagoras?
the example is for Nuke 6.0v3
cheers
I found myself needing to go back to a tutorial on the website. I couldn’t find the video that I was looking for. It was so confusing .
Is it me or is the New Layout a little confusing?
I loved the old way , they had every tutorial directly below each other, and all you had to do was scroll & look.
Anyone want to lobby a new layout? 😀
Just bored,

How do you create various takes in Maya so I can reexport the fbx.
My issue is that my camera comes in static in nuke however it is animated in Maya, this is my first time trying to bring in an animated camera via fbx file from Maya and so far it only comes in static with no animated keyframes as I have set in Maya.
I think being able to set the take name to something other than default will work, but how can I do so? I am assuming this based on this article here, but if you have any other ideas why my animated camera in maya is coming in static in nuke please help. My fbx files I think are fine, as my geometry comes in fine and lines up great.
Is there a simple way to resize the .mov or image sequence right in the Write node ? Like a scale automatically on write out by half type of thing….
Would an expression work in the frame bar of the write node?
Thanks
I tried doing several defocuses one after the other, adding some grain in between them. The result is optically worst (closer to a blur, not a proper lens defocus) and the banding is much worst…
I am working on Red footage already graded to ProRes 422HQ (10-bit quicktime).
I know file sequences are great, but break our workflow, and I couldn’t get ProRes 4444 not to shift the image gamma. I don’t think that’s the problem anyway.
Any ideas or workarounds?
I must submit tomorrow!
Meanwhile I’m blaming the h264 compression for it but the online is screwed if I can’t solve it…
Thanks!!!!
Remove Field (Half Res)
Remove Field (Duplicate)
Remove Field (Interpolate)
Merge Field (Interpolate)
Deinterlace Field (Duplicate)
Which option is best especially for green screen keying?
Are there particular reasons for the different methods and a guide as to which option to use for which cases?
Thanks
could someon tell me how I can do a random character expression in the text node in nuke. I read a thread about random numbers (frames) but I’d like to have letters. or maybe all ascii characters?!
Could anyone point me to the right direction?
thx in advance,
jaden
It seems possible, but didnt know from the NDK point of things
Thanks!
Edit: I just saw the baseclass needed, but am still wondering…
