Lens 3D Camera doesn’t match Real Camera…

Hello,

A problem that I have when I track my footage in Syntheyes and place a 3d object over it in Syntheyes or 3dsmax (same problem) it doesn’t completely match the footage. For example if I place a Box over a building the perspective isn’t perfectly right. Like half an inch off. The track is solid and the cube does follow the camera perfect too.

Is this a lens distortion problem? Or is there something wrong with the settings in my 3d camera?

I hope that someone can help me out with this.

Thanks alot,
Maarten

Plate Treatment

Hey guys was just wondering if anyone has any tips when it comes to treating footage for a matchmove. I know that most matchmove software will let you do some minor changes; like colour correction, but is it better to do any changes in a comping package then export the altered plates to then camera track? What changes work best? i know that it depends entirely on the type of shot your tracking and the footage etc but is there a must do treatment that you guys know?

Cheers!

what’s the best matchmove job?

just think, you have a chance for a cinema project..what do you do from start to end..could you explain it step by step i want to compare your process with my process..
thank you..

Boujou 4 track won’t stick to my footage

I am trying to import a track from Boujou 4 into 3Ds Max. The track works well enough in Boujou but as soon as I import the camera solve into Max nothing sticks that well. I originally thought it was a lens distortion effect but the problem seems more pronounced than that. I’m fairly sure the camera is correctly calibrated in both programs (It was shot on a Sony Z1, 4.8mm x 3.6mm film back, 1440 x 1080, pixel aspect 1.333, 4.4mm fixed lens). What is going wrong? Why does it work fine in Boujou and not in Max?

which camera motion type

hi there
i have a problem about scene option..first of all i want to show a picture it’s a dolly move as you see in this picture

i want to tell where is the my problem with this picture..for example dolly tool moves left to right..and camera is static, camera is not turning around..it just comes from left to right..this is the my problem what option do i have to choose in camera motion section..in pftrack i remember there are a lot of option..translation or rotation, linear translation or planar or translation..whats the best option for pftrack ans syntheyes..
thank you…

Can somebody help me out with Syntheyes?

Hi there,

I have a problem with Syntheyes. Setting up the coordinate system just don’t seem to give me good results…The objects keeps sliding over the floor. If someone wants to help me with this problem you can add me: maarten87_@hotmail.com

Importing data to PFTrack

Hello guys,
I’d like to ask you about feeding data into PFTrack from textfiles or so…
I know there is no way ho to do it in PFTrack just by doing File/Import in UI, so I’m asking if there is some alternate way, probably scripting or so…

I’m interested in:
– importing and locking animated focal lenght data
– importing and locking animated convergence and interocular data
– importing survey info for points from a text file

Thanks, Petr

CSystem in Syntheyes problem..

Hi all,
can you give me advise, how can I build my coordinate system in nodal pan shot? Before I used Boujou and now I want to learn Syntheyes.

Syntheyes lens distortion script

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here. I’ve been coming here for some time now as I am learning the wonderful world of Matchmoving. And wondering if anyone might be able to help.

I tracked and solved a shot without undistorting the plate. But due to the elements that will be in the shot, almost entirely replacing the background, I need to use an undistorted plate.

When undistorting the plate I had to add padding. I planned on using the Apply/Remove Lens distortion script, so I wouldn’t have to re track, as it is a very difficult shot.

My question is how to add back the padding in the Apply/remove lens distortion script? Is there a formula for figuring out what the U and V scaling would be?

The padding I used was .1 all around the image. So 10% larger on each edge, or 20% larger width and height. The script worked great if I didn’t have padding, the points lined up and everything. It’s just understanding how the padding works out in the script that has me a little boggled.

Thanks in advance for any help
