Choosing RAM DIMMS for Fusion/Compositing.

Hi.

What do I look for when upgrading DDR2 RAM in my workstation? Faster RAM or more RAM? For instance 8GB of PC8500 or 16GB of PC6400? Any other specifications I have to look out for?

How to get Bokeh effect and Depth of filed together

Hi Everyone,
I have a query regarding Z depth . i am using frischluft lenscare in Eyeon Fusion .which give nice bokeh (blur)..but when i put Zdepth pass in lenscare depth node i don’t get proper depth of field..lenscare is not taking the depth information from depth pass ..it blurs the whole scene uniformly…I have tried Maya’s iff Z depth pass (RGBAZ)…Luminance pass, separate mental ray Depth pass(zt)…but couldn’t get the desire result…I need bokeh effect ,as well as depth in scene.

1.Is there any other plugin which give both bokeh effect and depth.

2.which is best way to render Z depth pass in Maya.

3. should i render each object separately according to the distance from camera and blur each layer manually to achieve the depth of field…(quite laborious).

Please suggest me the best solution….i will be very grateful to you..

simple import question

Hi

I’m trying to import a single frame out of a frame sequence, and Fusion keeps bringing in the whole damn sequence, no matter what I do. I can tweak the trim in and out sliders, but when working with many layers, it becomes too much of a hassle.

3d render Zdepth

hi guys
i need a help
i made a 3d scene inside fusion, the i applyed a 3d render tool, and on the output channels i’ve selected RGBA and Zdepth
but wen i try to see the zdeth channel, its all flat instead of a gray scale image
i think it may be all white couse its a 32 bit images so it have all values above 1.
am i right???
if yes, there is any way to clip it down to a grayscale image( i mean linear 0-255)???

3D camera question

hi there .
I have simple a question about 3D compositing . I have a scene in 3Dsmax and render some frames . now I wanna place a 3D plan object [of fusion] in this render . so I guess I must export my camera to fusion 3D scene and place my plane in where I want and composite this 3D render with my 3Ds max render files.
If this way is right I need to export my animated camera with a simple object [to know where I must place my plan in fusion] . but I only find camera import in fusion and whene I import my camera , camera is so larg . also whene I export my object , object have a wrong pivot from world and I cannot match object with camera .
If there is any better solution or any help to do this . I will glad to hear .

Fusion won’t create keys

Here is some problem I’ve had a bunch of times already with Fusion 5.2 and 5.3: Fusion WON’T create a key if I move the centre of a Polyline mask.
I can move the centre- it wont create a key.
I can CLICK on Center and say SET KEY and it won’t create a key.

If I move my Polyline around it will create a key for it.
So basically is this just a frustrating bug or can I lock the animation feature somehow or something? Is there any way to fix this? Closing and reopening fusion sadly DIDN’t fix the problem so I feel a bit helpless.

use PAINT MASK to remove something?

I am trying to use the Paint Mask to remove something from another mask like it was an eraser. Is that possible?
In my example file I have got a background. Then I drew a star with a poly mask now I want to remove the RIGHT SIDE of the star with the Paint Mask. I know how to ADD more of the background to the Star Mask but I can not figure out how to REMOVE something with the Paint Mask.
Any suggestion?

animated Signature…

I need to animate a soccer player’s signature for a gatorade commercial and even though i could do it in after with something like a 3d stroke i was wondering how i could do this in fusion.

I traced the signature with a mask and gave it some width but how can i animate it from the starting point to the very last point of the mask?

Im guessing manually but maybe there is a better way.

Required Generation Training?

Hi,

Now Generation has been out for a while I wanted to ask a couple of questions as we’re think ahead as to whether to offer Generation training.

What we’re interested in finding out is are you are a facility you know using or planning to use Generation?

and

Do you feel more training, other than the excellent videos provided by eyeon, are needed?
I’m thinking of classroom based training, held either at a facility running Generation or out at a training centre.
