Demo Reel settings/formats for PAL

Hi All, I have selected my work for my demo reel and I now want to build a demo reel.

This is where the problems starts:
– I have no idea what is the best format & resolution to output my work in
– best format to burn

I will be applying for jobs in the UK so I know work needs to be in PAL format.
The resolution for most of my work is 480×360 setup in Maya. Having said that I will have no problem in changing the proportions and I’m leaning towards a wide screen proportion anyway

Heres what I want to achieve:
– Widescreen format demo reel
– Does not squash or stretch if played on and older TV with 4:3 ratio instead the images will retail the proportion and you will see black band top and bottom
– Automatically plays when disc is inserted

Ideally this is the information I’m trying to find out:
– Output widescreen setting from Maya for PAL format
– What software to use for compositing
– Import, save as or export settings in the composting package
– what burning software & settings to use

Software I have access to is:
Maya
Premier
After Effects
Final cut Pro
DVD Studio pro
Toast

If anybody has created a reel in wide scroll PAL format from Maya please can you share your knowledge?

All these settings are starting to fry my brain!!

thanks

Roto Reel Critique

I’d like to get some feedback on my reel. This was all done in Flame.

Any constructive criticism is welcome.

What I would change in the next update:
– keep quicker the Name+Title part
– breakdown of the lateral matte painting with the cyberpunk sidewalk
– perhaps moving the last shot with the burnout in the middle somewhere (but I don’t care too much since I’m usually applying as Compositor and not as Roto Artist).
– what else do you suggest?

I’m currently looking for job in LA.
