The second sequense I took five pictures put toghether and created a 3d looking environment with a snow storm. This is my first test to create a 3d environment of different kinds of pictures so don’t have too much pressure on me
It took a while to make this because there have to a lot of adjustment, keying and color correction to make it look good.
The music was also very carefully done, I used a couple of layers when i made this to get a bass feeling + the ordinary melody. Everything made in Magix Music Maker 14 Premium.
I just finished my last semester of school, and looking for an internship as compositor + generalist. Here is my demo . Critiques and comments are much appreciated .
Here goes nothing I guess; I just finished my first reel as a “self-student” for motion design. And I’m ready for some critique!
I made this reel so I can start searching for an intern-ship as motion designer. And learn from the best…
So please fire your guns at this piece! Let me know if you like it, and more important, what could be better.
thanks already,
Yori van Gerven

I tried to create a 3d city in 3d studio max. I watched two city pictures to know how the houses and buildings were like.
I wanted this animation look like cartoon or something.
I did this to the swedish company Lindberg.
It took a while to create cause I worked with the light, effects, editing, sounds and music very closely. But I’m not a professional editor so maybe it doesn’t looks awesome.
In music and audio part i compressed some sounds and did some delay, changed some pitches and stuff like that.
Used: Magix Music Maker 14 Premium
The light was the longest part to do cause I wanted it to be perfect so I worked with it very carefully with curves, corrections and balances.
Used: Premiere Pro & After Effects CS5
Editing wasn’t so much, just som fixes with the music and made the clip match the sounds.
Used: Premiere Pro CS5
Effects and slowmotion was made in After Effects CS5.
Hope you’ll like it and maybe give me some comments!
The second part that I thought was most important was the slowmotion and that the light, trash, mud and the person was moving as realistic as it could.
Then I worked really hard with the sound(music. Also this time I compressed, switched some pitches and created some delay.
All the effects was made in After Effects CS4.
All the editing was made in Premiere Pro CS5
All the music/sound editing was made in Magix Music Maker 14 Premium
Watch in 720p HD.
This time I took a still image and tried to make it look like 3d and tried to create a feeling that a camera was flying over the village.
I used some lensflare and mixed with the lights alot to get a sunset look.
Watch in 720 HD!
Please give me some feedback 🙂
I’m just in the process of putting a new compositing reel together with the aim of applying for some junior 2d positions.
This seems like a great community with some fantastic feedback given on reels so I thought I’d post it up here in it’s current state to see what the consensus is and what I could do to improve it.
I have a bad habit of trying to put too much into my reels becoming too long and bloated, so I’ve tried to keep things short but (hopefuly) sweet with this one. I’m a bit worried I may have gone too far in the other direction though and that it’s now a bit too short/rushed?
Thoughts very welcome 🙂
Cheers
Linus
