I have seen a couple of jobs on-line for the position of runner that I was considering applying for. I have never worked in the VFX industry and do not have a degree. I am however very passionate about VFX and have been training on-line for a few years now ( AE and Premierre and recently Nuke ). I really like compositing and have started to work on a rotoscoping demo reel. I have made a real effort to immerse myself in the world of VFX ( very tricky on a budget).
My main problem is I have full time job not associated with the VFX industry that pays very little. I train alone on-line in my spare time. You do get feedback and sites like this have really inspired me, but It can feel very isolating. I have realised that like any industry ( maybe even more so in VFX ) its as much as WHAT you know as WHO you know. Its difficult juggling a job you hate and a passion you love. Keeping the enthusiasm up can be a struggle, but I am persevering.
I basically thought if I could get a job in the industry, at a low level, that would give me more oppourtunities to meet like minded people and gain experience.
I know its very competitve so was wondering what exactly employers are looking for in a runner?Whats the likely hood of me getting the job based on what I have said? What could I do to improve my chances? Are there any other low level jobs I could apply for?
Thanks for your time.
I need to rebuild a scene in 3D from various pictures that were shot on-set and by using project mapping retexture the whole thing – the aim is to create a more interesting camera move than the one that we got on the shoot.. Now my question is how do I go about it correctly..?
My first thought was to undistort the plates, then import them to the 3D package, match the cameras position and remodel the whole scene. Now I found that matching camera is really tricky especially for wider shots. If I use undistorted plate it seems that I won’t be able to match them perfectly because the 3D camera will introduce its own curvature..
Any tips and/or suggestions would be highly appreciated on this topic..
Best Regards
just one simple question:
How many photos do i need for an HDR-Panorama for HDR-Lighting in 3D?
Do i really need the full Dynamic Range (shoot every view multiple times), or can i somehow "fake it" out of few Pictures as Panorama each shot? Does it help to shoot in raw-format?
best regards,
marc
Just wanted to know if anyone has the 3d Creature Development Master Class boxset from the Gnomon Workshop. Just wanted an honest opinion before I buy it.
From the free 10 minute clip it looks really good and could possibly give me some good reference to go ahead and get my first reel underway.
Cheers…
I am currently doing the Mentored VFX course with Escape and just seeing if ppl have been successful using other institutes
