Is it possible to export Maya camera to Fusion ?

Is it possible to export Maya camera to Fusion ? I want to create a zoom in camera movement for a 3D object in maya and then export this movement to fusion or any comp application so that i get the same camera movement in the comp..

How can it be done ?

Okay guys, I’m putting together a reel and I have to say, God I don’t have a lot of stuff 🙁

I’ve worked on two short films which mostly involded keying and colourcorrections.

There was no real CG comping (though I’ve been doing a bit more of that now) or adding amazing effects to the footage.

Plus, I still haven’t got access to the second one yet as I don’t think it’ll be released for a month or two yet.

I’ve also done some mattepaintings/3dprojections/set extension which I could include, but it’s not great to be honest.

So… What I’m asking is what do people (human resource type folks) think of stock footage, like that from HCW in a reel? And basically, what are my options?

is it necessary to learn fusion for learning nuke? i asking this bcoz i m new to node based compositing and i have knowledge of combustion & AE.I m planning to do nuke course in mumbai. Do i have to learn fusion too ???:(

Roto vs. Green Screen?

Howdy all,

I’m trying to learn more about CG and VFX and filmmaking in general so I have a lot of newb questions.

I think I get what roto is (kinda like a frame-by-frame mask so you can cut out part of a shot and paste it onto another?), and I’m pretty sure what green screen is, but I can’t have it straight because it seems like green screen would replace roto. What am I missing here? Why would anyone go through all the work of roto when they could just green screen it?

need workflow ideas for matchmoving mesh to actor

I need some workflow ideas for matchmoving/animating a full body mesh of an actor to a plate of the actor’s performance. I do not have a 3d scan of the actor or any motion capture data available so im having to just sculpt the mesh from photo references so im assuming i will have to use distortions of some kind to compensate for the edges being somewhat off in places. the hardest issue i am having is lining up the mesh to the actor and getting the perspective right. I have adjusted my virtual camera lens to match the focal length of the physical camera but am still having difficulties. Any ideas are deeply appreciated!

Mask/Face Opening

I am working on a project where a mask has to open and tuck to the side and show the person’s face underneath it, sort of like Iron Man. A similar effect was done in Spiderman 3, at the 0:44 mark for this video:

Rolling bottle

Hi everyone

I am student, producing a short film for my course and have a small idea. There is a scene where a small animated figure is pushing a real liquor bottle away. What we are trying to do is see if there is any other ways we could make the bottle move before we put the animated figure in.

So far the only way we have thought to do it would be to have it connected to a piece of thin string and have someone off scene pulling the bottle.

Is there anything else we could do?

How was the floating shot done in Avatar ?

How was the zero gravity floating scene shot in Avatar.. Jake and the others are seen floating in space .. is it possible to achieve that using wires ?
