NUKE PLE
Posted in: Beginners TalkI made the text in cinema 4d. I tracked my shot in PFTrack. I’m learning nuke.
I’m confused about the work-flow. What I need to export from where and what I still need to learn.
I think im supposed to export the camera move from pftrack and import it into cinema 4d, then export the moving 3d to nuke. I’m confused about the 200 scale thing I keep reading about with cinema 4d. I’m also confused about where I am supposed to do the lighting?
I have a good track and my test objects all stick well in PFTrack. My text looks good in c4d, I did use global illumination there along with several lights.
What now? Thanks.
Help with Digital Amputation
Posted in: Beginners TalkI tried to do a quick and dirty test with my computer camera and a green sock. here are the very unconvincing results. I guess the biggest difference is that they got a flawless key. So How do I get a flawless key? I don’t need to model a numb and put it on as my amputation is hidden by my pant leg. I just need the rest of my leg to disappear
I used keylight in aftereffects to key out the green socks. I usually use keylight to key out backgrounds but for this effect with the amputation it seems to not work out as well. if at all. Any tips / workflow would be greatly appreciated.
I tried to incorperate what i learned in this previous thread from these forums but I think it may have been over my paygrade
I’m REALLy trying to avoid rotoscoping this (good old no budget feature with not alot of time / resources)
I would be deleteing my feet in 3 shots:
1. walking around the kitchen
2. walking / running to bus
3. walking down stairs of brownstone
Just for context here is some pieces of the film
Any help / tips would be greatly appreciated!
what’s better: Maya or 3DS Max
Posted in: Beginners TalkI know that anything used is a tool, and you should always use what tool is best for any particular job. But I just want a generalized answer. Overall is Maya better or 3DS Max?
What are the pro’s and con’s of each?
Any info whatsoever would be appreciated.
Are there any similarities between the two programs. If you learn one, is it pretty easy to learn the other?
Greetings!
Posted in: Beginners TalkI just joined here because I was looking for a community that shares my passion and interest in visual effects and animation.
I’m a junior at University of the Pacific studying Graphic Design and Photography. I’m currently trying to get into graduate school for Animation and teaching myself how to use Maya.
I have many questions that need answering regarding what I should look into more, what I should study, etc. I’m interested in both animation AND visual effects, but I don’t know which field I want to pursue. I have friends that work at ILM and Pixar and I’ve been to both a few times and I absolutely love both.
I am also applying for an internship this summer, but I want to do something closely related to my interests (not just graphic design) so I can start getting my foot in the door. What are some good areas to apply for? I live in San Jose, CA so I’m very close to ILM and Pixar and Dreamworks.
I have some more questions, but I gotta run so I’ll post them up soon.
Very excited to be here!
