but that doesn’t tell me anything !!!
so my question is why is nuke better for compositing …what can nuke does while AE doesn’t ?!!!
Im getting to the point where I am seriously considering getting some theory behind me in VFX by joining escape studios doing the maya core course and then the VFX course. (Mainly joining with them as they have awesome contacts in the industry and they’re also held in very high regard it seems)…
whichever way you look at it both of these courses are extremely expensive, even more so when you have a mortgage to pay. However, theres no way I am going to continue with my current career as a civil engineer when I love everything about VFX and will do anything to get on the vfx career ladder.
The only thing holding me back right now though is that for the life of me i cannot find anything concrete about salaries in this industry!!!
I understand I wont be earning a huge salary to start with but i would just like to know what it is I can expect in london with the above 2 courses behind me.
I know its not the done thing to talk about salaries but to make the move into the industry and actually fork out the 7k for those courses I really need to know that I’ll have the bills covered at the end of the day.
I’ve looked on VFX wages but would rather here from a real person, in the industry….
Many thanks guys!

thx in advance
I’ve done some research, and got a mixed bag of answers. Some people say we have to use a pixel/second speed that is numerically compatible with either NTSC or PAL. However, this isn’t just NTSC, it’s also going to film… Do we need two separate credit rolls?
I’ve noticed the flickering gets nastier if we shrink the video player window. However, the same does not happen if I’m playing a Hollywood movie, even in tiny 640×480 windows and smaller. Is it typical to blur out text on credit roll? I’m experimenting with Gaussian at 2.0, but I think it’s too degrading.
All we got is AE, btw. Any help appreciated!
I am just wondering, I am 20 years old and already feel like I am late and clueless to begin persuing this. I have always had an interest in film, visual effects, and I am artistically inclined.. meaning I draw/paint very well, and have a pretty good eye for details. I also pick up computer programs relatively well
Do you think that this is a good career choice for someone as much of a beginner as me, and about how long would it take for me to say develop great skills in rotoing and look for an entry level job?
Thanks
