Using 30fps fire for 24 fps compositing animation

I need to make some fire footage clips for compositing into a 24 fps animation.

I have a Canon powershot sx 100is
it does
640 x 480 @ 30fps

I want to film objects on fire that are moving–like a fiery arm swinging..and use the flame in compositing work…but I dont want to get a new camera just for filming fire. I was thinking of either finding a way to convert the 30fps to 24
or just cut out a few frames spaced out of 30 to get 24.
Think its doable without looking sucky?
Trying to think of the drawbacks before igniting anything…
