Adjusting stereo effect in anaglyph comp

Hi I am trying to create a basic Anaglyph animation to get to grips with the concepts of stereo rendering and how its all setup in post. I have rendered a camera moving through a kitchen using the 3DHippie Stereocam plugin for 3dsmax and I have combined the footage in Nuke using the join views and anaglyph node which produces an anaglyph image but the 3d effect seems to have more effect in the distant parts of the image more so than the foreground elements. The stereo camera rig in 3dsmax lets you control the parallax amount which is supposed to push and pull objects out of the screen but no matter how I set this up I seem to get the same result in Nuke….Do I need to render out additional passes from 3dsmax to control the 3d stereo depth in Nuke? and if so how do I set this up
