Oregon Runner Celebrates Too Early, Ends Up Losing the Race

Over the weekend, an Oregon runner learned the hard way that you should never celebrate a victory until you’ve actually won.

The Pepsi Team Invitational featured teams from Oregon, Kentucky and Washington. During the men’s steeplechase, Oregon’s Tanguy Pepiot had the race locked up.

Or so it looked like.

Toward the end, the senior started to celebrate too early by pumping up the crowd. Washington’s Meron Simon never gave up and put on a last burst of speed, and he passed Pepiot at the finish line to win the race.

Rough.
