Off The Grid; A Veteran's Search for the "Right Way to Live"

Pictured is Tom Taylor, a Vietnam veteran who lost his left arm in combat during the war. He and his family live largely off the grid in their small hamlet near Cloudcroft, New Mexico, where Tom raised a yurt (a kind of giant teepee) to house his daughter, girlfriend and anyone in-need of a place to stay. Like many of his neighbors, Tom chooses to live without running water, internet and most of the technology Americans use readily today. He is an eccentric who searches for “the right way to live,” he says, while not giving a second thought to his disability.
